A great way to stylize your old looking bathroom is to try the new styles of bathroom vanities that are available. One of the most popular is the Euro Vanity. However, up until now the Euro Vanity has been out of reach to the average spender. It is an expensive looking piece of bathroom furniture for which most the expense could never be justified.

If you go to the major retail home improvement stores you may still be spending a lot of money for this high-grade bathroom vanity. Most of these large retailers inflate prices and sell you vanities that are not made of wood. They may look like solid wood and might have a wood front, but the rest of the vanity is made of a cheap pressboard, which isn't much stronger than cardboard. This cheap construction means that you will be replacing your over-priced piece of furniture much sooner than if you had bought something made out of real wood.

Recently some large importers have brought in real wood cabinets that are not only of great quality, but are less money than the retail vanities. Going online to a kitchen and bathroom website will save you time and money. To further your savings, try an RTA cabinet. RTA stands for ready to assemble cabinets and they are fast becoming the best way to renovate a kitchen or bathroom. The Euro Vanity is available online at various RTA cabinet sites for 30% to 40% less than major retail stores!

The other amazing part of these vanities is "the parts" them self. The cabinet and vanities are made of solid wood, and they come with a solid porcelain sink bowl that adds even more style to the vanity. These Euro Vanities are a perfect blend of unique style and cost-effectiveness. With furniture legs, and a great mirror to match, the euro vanity looks more like a piece of furniture than an ordinary bathroom vanity. While you can get larger sizes, the euro is ideal for smaller bathrooms with a limited amount of space. Since the vanity itself isn't as deep as a traditional vanity, it makes the room feel larger, without sacrificing surface space (since the sink bowl curves out).

So if you are looking to make a change to your bathroom, or give it a modern look, take a look at the euro vanity. Start shopping for your unique piece of bathroom furniture, search for a Euro Vanity online and you will see the savings.

When my family decided we needed another update in our house I gave them the choice of the kitchen, the basement, or the third floor (which we call the "rec room"). We weighed our options, we recently renovated the bathrooms and get plenty of use from the new features and improved upgrades.

We talked over each room and concluded this: the basement would be a great place to have a lounge or bar type set up, we could entertain guests, play cards or other games, watch football on Sunday and have a party place. Next the third floor could be converted from the attic into a quiet retreat where family members could get away to read or relax. Finally we talked about the kitchen and it made the most sense of the three options. We use the kitchen everyday- we meet there, cook there, dine there, and pass through it on the way to the outside world. It was the logical choice to renovate the kitchen.

After traveling to the local home building supply store I realized that maybe we should have went with one of the other choices. The cost of renovating the kitchen was double or triple of the other projects. The big cost was the kitchen cabinets and the kitchen appliances. I thought there had to be another way to get these products and not spend so much money.

I called a friend who has been rehabbing houses for years and he said let me in on a contractors secret. He said "are you handy and ready to have some fun?" I of course, replied yes and was eagerly waiting for an answer when he showed me the trick was right there on my laptop. He said go online and shop for RTA kitchen cabinets. These RTA products will save you thousands of dollars on your kitchen renovation. I was so excited that I forgot to ask what RTA meant. I later found out that RTA is not a brand name, but instead it meant "ready to assemble". For instance, you buy a ready to assemble kitchen cabinet, put it together and then you have the same product that you would have paid for anyway. In other words, you save money buying a product that requires a little bit of your on work, but as any good "do it yourself" person knows, your saving money and that is the whole idea.

So we jumped online found many different RTA kitchen cabinet websites and believe it or not, the prices were almost half of what I was finding in retail stores! I was really going to save thousands of dollars. Here all this time, the online resource was right at my finger tips. My contractor friend explained that this is how he increases his profit margin by almost fifty percent! He buys these RTA kitchen cabinets, saves the money and then charges his customers the price of an assembled product. Its genius and it is now saving me money on my new house project.

Matching Your Bathroom With Your Personality

Does the idea of having a bathroom as unique as your own personality appeal to you? If so, you are probably drawn to the high end vanities, mirrors and sinks you see featured in design and architectural magazines. The pieces featured in these magazines have been out of the average consumers reach for years. That is all changing now. Euro Vanities can now be found on websites that also sell RTA kitchen and bathroom cabinets.

The Euro Vanities come in a variety of shapes, sizes and designs along with solid stone counters and sinks. Unlike RTA cabinets, these vanities come fully assembled, only leaving you to install the piece in your bathroom. Any novice do it yourselfer can install these vanities following the simple sheet of directions that comes with the vanity.

Not only is the simple installation a bonus to these bathroom vanities, but their sheer style and design sells itself. Each piece is like a distinct piece of furniture that is made for a bathroom. Upon first glance the Euro Vanities don't even look like a bathroom vanity, but rather a piece of functional art that you can use everyday. Now you may be wondering if something so stunning can really be that functional. The answer to that is yes, absolutely. These pieces of bathroom furniture offer all of the storage a traditional bathroom vanity can offer. They come in several different styles, from single door cabinets to double door cabinets, all depending upon what size you may need for your bathroom. They also function as traditional sinks and counters, but with an added piece of flare and style.

You are able to find a few styles similar to the Euro Vanities in your local home improvement stores, but they are often much more expensive and of lesser quality than those found online. You may wonder why this is, especially since if you buy them online you may have to pay for shipping. The fact of the matter is that most online distributors of these vanities are manufacturing the product themselves, thus eliminating the middle man and a need for an extended mark up. As for shipping, many sites offer discounts or even free shipping on orders over a specified amount.

The bottom line is that if you are interested in turning your boring, everyday bathroom into a stylish, sophisticated room, you should spend some time online searching for Euro Vanities. I can assure you that you will be pleased by not only the products you find, but amazed at the price point at which they are offered.

Renovating a Victorian House- True Life Story of One Couple

My wife and I bought an old Victorian house. It needed plenty of renovations and updating of the different systems. However, like most houses of this era, it had style and charm. The house contained two stairways, an extra long porch, cathedral ceilings, and very large rooms. And that is where this renovation story takes place- in one of the bathrooms.

Having a large bathroom, at first seems like a blessing. Coming from an apartment, we thought this unique aspect of the house was one of the greatest features of the old house. In the end it is, but getting to that end was more difficult that we expected. First the bathroom needed to be completely gutted. We found that the drain system underneath the floor was slow moving and was nearing complete blockage. So in the days to follow, we removed the light fixtures, the pedestal sink (which was cracked and could not be saved), the toilet (which appeared worn out, but we cleaned it up and saved that fixture), a small closet (that did not work for our new plans), and the claw foot tub (which we were saving, because it was better than the new claw foots we saw in stores). With all these parts out of the bathroom, we soon realized that our large bathroom was now even bigger. This led us to the unique bathroom vanity discovery.

We took a journey to our local hardware store (please note this author and his friends avoid stores like Home Depot and Lowe's, besides wasteful environmental practices, these stores have high prices that they disguise with massive advertising campaigns.) Remember stay local and help you local economy, big box retailers do not need your business. So while at the local hardware store, our friendly store attendant recommended a few products that really helped and then gave us a great idea that we probably would not have got from the super chain stores. We explained that we have a big old house that naturally comes with an extra large bathroom. We wanted that special piece of bathroom furniture that would set the washroom apart from anything else. We decided that an expensive bathroom vanity would be the perfect center piece. Now we asked him what types of local specialty shops carry these high end bathroom vanities. He said, "If you really want a unique bathroom vanity, shop online". We like staying local, we explained, but he said that a good deal of these special bathroom vanity websites were run by small business owners. This helped us ease our decision and we then asked for more information.

He further elaborated by instructing us to cut through the waste, while surfing online, and use key words. Key words, yes these words will get you to the unique bathroom vanity or high end bathroom vanity that you are looking for, he said to us. What words I asked? The words we just spoke: using phrases like, high end bathroom vanities, or special vanities, and anything that sets your idea apart, will get you to the web sites that you need.

With much excitement, we traveled home and started shopping online. We were pleasantly surprised to see the vast selection of high end bathroom vanities that would fit perfect in our new bathroom. Shopping online completed our quest to find the perfect bathroom vanity for our house and made the experience pleasantly fulfilling.

The Truth About RTA Cabinets

Ready-to-assemble kitchen cabinets, commonly known as RTA cabinets are a superior alternative to high priced kitchen cabinets. RTA cabinets are solid wood cabinets, offered in several sizes, styles and finishes. These cabinets come unassembled, each in their own box. They can be assembled by using only a screwdriver, since they feature an easy to use cam lock assembly system. The assembly of these cabinets requires no nails, no glue, no power tools. This makes it an easy do it yourself project for even the novice DIYer.

Another attractive attribute to RTA cabinets is their cost effectiveness. Since the cabinets come unassembled, directly from the factory, it can save you thousands of dollars. Some major retail stores offer RTA cabinets, but they are generally made of materials other than solid wood and are ten times more difficult to assemble and install. Since solid wood isn't used, this lessens the life expectancy of the cabinets, thus meaning you may have saved money on your initial purchase but will inevitably have to replace your purchase much sooner than if you had bought a higher quality product in the beginning. They will typically be made of products such as particleboard or fiberboard, which will tend to sag over time. Not to mention the fact that both materials will have a higher tendency to absorb moisture, which isn't suggested in a area of the house that has a high probably of stains or spills.

To find leading distributors of RTA cabinets you can simply do a google search for "RTA Cabinets". You will be led to a variety of online stores, product reviews and shopping guidelines. Most sites offer help with the design of your kitchen, real-time customer service, online installation and assembly guides, and helpful hints on how to create a custom look for kitchen. What makes all of this customer support possible is that these stores only sell RTA cabinets and accessories. This means that you never have to worry about getting a customer service representative that doesn't know exactly what they are talking about.

With solid wood construction, simple assembly and installation system, unlimited customer support, and a semi-custom product at a fraction of the cost, it is no wonder that homeowners are turning to RTA cabinets to turn their kitchens into a beautiful, functional investment that will last for decades. So whatever the size or complexity of your kitchen remodeling project, take a look at RTA cabinets before making your decision.

Finding An Affordable Bathroom Vanity

The best way to find an affordable bathroom vanity is to shop online for your renovation needs. Finding anything from bathroom vanities to kitchen cabinets is not only easy, but it is far cheaper to buy online. You save gas money, time, and it's the convenience of shopping from home. Not to mention the delivery right to your door. Finding these items online is even easier when you expedite your search by using key words. One word or phrase that I found that completely saved me thousands of dollars (I literally saved $2355 on my kitchen and bathroom vanities) is the phrase RTA cabinet. Or more specifically "RTA bathroom vanity" was the phrase that really jump started my search.

A few things I learned that ended up saving me money on my bathroom vanity. First, RTA bathroom vanities are the way to improve you house without spending the extra money for assembled products. I luckily new what RTA was, but for those who do not, RTA means "ready to assemble". Ready to assemble products are everywhere. You have them in your house and you might not even know it. Why buy an assembled product, when you can buy an unassembled or RTA product at about thirty percent (30%) less the cost? You might say what I originally said -- I am not sure I can assemble these cabinets or RTA products. No worries, new RTA kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities are easier than ever to assemble. These products can be assembled with a flat head screw driver and simple instructions. An electric or cordless drill will speed up the process, but it is not needed. The basic shell of the RTA bathroom vanity goes together quickly, it is basically four pieces. Anyone can assemble four sides and a bottom.

The next thing I was concerned about was the quality. After shopping at the local super store (Home Depot) I realized that the quality of the RTA bathroom vanities were actually a much better product. The retail stores I visited sold RTA products or even assembled products that used particle board. Try to avoid particle board, it gets wet and expands or it takes on moisture and does the same. Remember to buy RTA products that used solid wood fronts and paneled wood sides. Especially in the kitchen, it might look like a good cabinet, but if they are using particle board or "engineered wood" just simply avoid it.

Next was the price and I found that the price of the online RTA bathroom vanities was over thirty percent less than the Home Depot? I was skeptical, so I did some more research and found out that these big box retail stores like Lowe's or Home Depot actually do not have good prices on bathroom vanities or kitchen cabinets. The stores over price these items and consumers do not realize it. Especially the kitchen cabinets; so I kept this in mind when I re-did my kitchen and as of now, I am completely happy with the RTA bathroom vanity and RTA kitchen cabinets that I found online.

Kitchen Cabinet Tips From A Home Supply Store

Recently I was involved in some major house renovations. We removed an old bathroom vanity, knocked out some walls, and completely gutted the kitchen. I was almost instinctively drawn to the hardware super stores to buy my supplies. My friend, who was helping me, was the same way. While at one of these mega stores, we received more help from a store attendant than we ever thought possible. We were complaining about the lack of quality, regarding the kitchen cabinets, and more importantly, the outrageous price. The discovery we made has changed my outlook on buying home renovation supplies and has inspired me to look into buying a rehab project.

The hardwood super store attendant told us in simple terms, "go onto the internet to buy kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities". He demonstrated his theory while at the store. First he explained that the biggest savings was buying RTA (ready to assemble) kitchen cabinets. Ready to assemble or RTA products are everywhere. You may not realize it, he explained, but you have probably put together dozens of these products. Anything that needs to be assembled is pretty much an RTA product. So why not your kitchen cabinets or bathroom vanities; it was starting to make sense, but I needed more information before I committed to this radical idea. (I was under the impression that you go to a store, pick out kitchen cabinets and a walk out with an assembled product.)

I asked, why RTA kitchen cabinets or RTA bathroom vanities? Two answers- First these products are almost half the cost of assembled kitchen cabinets. If you're into saving money (and who is not) then this type of cabinet is what you need. Why are the cabinets so cheap? There must be a catch? The catch is that you, the consumer are taking on the responsibility of assembling the product, so therefore, it is cutting your cost. You are getting an unassembled product, but you're saving money. Ok, so then I asked how difficult are they to assemble? The answer was short and simple. These RTA products have been designed to assemble quickly and easy. Usually a flat head screw driver (slot screw driver to some people) is the only tool needed. Finally my questions were answered, the product is easy to assemble and the cost is far better than an assembled kitchen cabinet.

Finally, I said to the store attendant, I will buy RTA kitchen cabinets and probably the bathroom vanities too. Where are they? This is when I was surprised once again with his answer. He said, don't buy retail. He knew he should not be telling me this but he gave the facts. Large hardware stores have a large amount of inventory and huge advertising budgets, therefore their kitchen cabinets are over priced. People don't realize this and think they are getting a good deal, but shopping online is a much better way to buy kitchen cabinets.

The trip to the super hardware store paid off, I went home found RTA kitchen cabinets online, compared prices and really saw the savings. I suggest you try it out and see how much you can save.

Do Any Of These Weight Loss E-Books Really Work?

By no means am I a professional body builder or even a motivated weight lifter, but over the past couple of years I have been motivated to get back in shape. I started researching workout programs, and weight loss books which brought me to several very different programs. One was written by Tom Venuto, another written by Mike Geary, and the last one written by Vince Delmonte. All three seemed to be credible professionals with very unique backgrounds.

As I started researching them, I found very different reviews of their products and the results that they could produce. Mike Geary was taking more of a life changing perspective on working out. Since he is a certified dietary professional, his program offered both a workout program and a dietary program. As most doctors and health professionals will tell you, just working out or just dieting will help you achieve the weight loss that you are looking for. Mike's book does a great job of educating the readers on how to change their lifestyle, while trying to lose weight.

Tom's book on the other hand, seems to benefit the people that are frequent weight lifters, or who currently have a workout routine. What Tom does that is different, is that he helps the reader determine their body type, and choose a workout program that is tailored for that specific body type. This is one of the biggest challenges for people that decide to workout, since the wrong workout program will result in minimal change and ultimately, lack of interest in the workout.

Vince's book going with the condensed workout program that benefits both the professional fitness person and the every day person that is looking to lose weight.

Unlike some of the diet fads that are on the market these days, both of these programs are based on realistic concepts- diet and exercise have to work together for weight loss. Most of the fad diets lead you to believe that weight loss can be achieved by taking mystery pills, eating a single food category, or drinking just liquids.

Ultimately I decided to follow Mike's program, since his workouts can be used at home or in the gym. With my busy travel schedule, this was perfect for me to be able to continue working out while I was on the road. The nutritional guidelines he provided also helped with meal selection, since I am constantly eating in restaurants which don't always have to best food selections.

I was really impressed with all three workout programs. Even though they offered completely different perspectives, all of them had the same goal of weight loss and life changing workouts.

Using Variable Intensity Training To Explosive Weight Loss

The old approach to cardio and aerobic training had always been 30-60 minutes on the tread mill or bike every day (or atleast 3-5 times a week). While this may be great for building your endurance, this old way of thinking is not the best way to lose weight or burn fat according to new scientific research.

Recent research is suggesting that physical variability is one of the most important aspects to incorporate into your daily routine. Most competitive sports (with the exception of endurance running or cycling) are also based on stop-and-go movement or short bursts of exertion followed by recovery. If you look at the body types of different athletes, you can see a pattern from athletes that perform is sports that require endurance versus athletes that utilize short bursts of speed or strength. Take a look at the body type of a cross country athlete versus the body of a basketball player. Cross country runners are thin and wiry, while basketball players are muscular and lean. While there are other factors involved in this comparison, it shows that shorter bursts of energy allow for leaner, more muscular bodies.

Another aspect of repetitive constant exercises such as the workout discussed above, is the impact it can have on the body. Endurance exercises can degenerate joints, reduces immune function, causes muscle wasting, and can cause a pro-inflammatory response in the body that can potentially lead to chronic diseases. Not to mention the fact that steady state endurance training only trains the heart at one specific heart rate range and doesn't train it to respond to various every day stressors. Variable training puts less stress on the body overall, and helps train your heart to function at both high heart rates and low rates, strengthening your heart to handle everyday stress.

The important aspect of varying intensity training that makes it superior over steady state cardio is the recovery period in between bursts of exertion. That recovery period is crucially important for the body to elicit a healthy response to an exercise stimulus. With greater variety over endurance training, variable intensity training results in fewer drop outs from the programs because of the variation.

While we have only tackled a couple of them in this article, there are plenty of other benefits to using variable intensity workouts versus endurance or cardio training. Even if you are not planning on being a professional athlete, variable workouts will help burn fat faster and lead to a slimmer waist line.

Pantry Kitchen Cabinets- Revamping A Kitchen Using Pantry Cabinets

I recently did a kitchen renovation job that we nicknamed the blues. The homeowners had a case of the blues, because their kitchen was stuck in the seventies. Furthermore, their kitchen was literally covered in blue. The tiles were blue, with white accent tiles sporadically placed, the cabinets were blue (yes you read that right) and the refrigerator was blue as well. The stove and dishwasher were white, but you get the idea of how blue things were. We decided a complete redesign would cure all of these blues.

We completely gutted the kitchen. Appliances, the blue kitchen cabinets, two large pantry kitchen cabinets, and we stripped the walls of the ugly tiles. After this was done we realized that one of the walls could be knocked out as well. It would be nice to open this wall, but the homeowners also wanted an option to keep part of that wall closed. This is where we turned to the pantry kitchen cabinets. It you're not familiar with a pantry--a quick definition is as follows: a pantry kitchen cabinet or a kitchen pantry cabinet is a large closet type cupboard in your kitchen. There are a few different styles of height and width. It is eighty four to ninety six inches tall and about eighteen inches to two feet wide. These are the large cabinets that you see in the corners of kitchens. It is basically a food storage cupboard and the name comes from the old style -large, walk in pantries that were in most eighteenth and nineteenth century house designs.

So now that you are more familiar with a pantry kitchen cabinet, we now can go into how these kitchen cabinets helped turn this room into a feature in the house.

The homeowners were on a budget, so I suggested RTA cabinets. (Ready to assemble cabinets, which are pre-assembled cabinets). These cabinets saved the homeowner $3200 dollars (Three Thousand Two Hundred Dollars) over a quote they received from Lowe's. The homeowners were actually familiar with the RTA style kitchen cabinets but were unsure if the RTA cabinets carried the pantry kitchen cabinets. After I informed the homeowners that RTA kitchen cabinets, not only make pantry kitchen cabinets, but the RTA cabinets are actually a better quality than retail stores like IKEA, Home Depot or Lowe's.

So finally we got to the kitchen, installed RTA kitchen cabinets, painted the kitchen a nice white (no blue), added some accent tiles in a nice shade of brown, and then came to the wall that was removed. We added one pantry to this wall and then had an open space that the homeowners wanted to keep open but also have an option to close it off. This is where we decided to use a double pantry that acts like a false wall. When you opened the double pantry doors, it did not open into a cupboard, instead it opened into the other room. It was a great idea and it demonstrates how there are many uses for a pantry kitchen cabinet. So make sure you add a pantry cabinet to your kitchen and start thinking of the many ways it can be used.
