There are two different types of tinnitus. There is subjective tinnitus, when you are the only one who can hear the noise and there is objective tinnitus, where the noise is not just in your head, but the ringing from your ear can be heard by your physician. Usually the noise that occurs in objective tinnitus is only able to be heard through listening instruments used by your doctor.

They are very similar in the fact that there is ringing involved in the inner ear that is very difficult to cope with and does not go away. Subjective tinnitus is when the victim is the only one who can hear the monotonous ringing sound in the inner ear. This kind of tinnitus can drive a person crazy because there is absolutely nothing to be done about it.

The sound is most often described as a roaring, ringing, humming, beating or a whooshing sound. The reported sound can be different from person to person but has the same monotony in most cases. This can be very loud in the ear of the person suffering from it.
It can be loud enough that surrounding noises may even be drowned out by the relentless buzzing or ringing sound. This can affect a person while they are working and trying to communicate with other people. The sound can even disrupt a person while they are trying to sleep.

The ringing is not always that extreme but in most cases it is a huge distraction. Subjective tinnitus is more of a nuisance than a serious problem but is not something to be taken lightly. It is most commonly associated with long term exposure to loud deafening noises and the hearing loss that goes along with old age.

Often the long term use of specific medicines can be the culprit for the exasperating ringing sound. An injury can to your head or the area around your ear and neck can cause the noise in your head. The other form of this nervous system phenomenon is called objective tinnitus. Just like subjective tinnitus the characteristics of objective tinnitus also include the roaring, ringing, humming, beating or whooshing sound. Objective tinnitus can also defer you or at least distract you from all of the other surrounding noises.

The difference between the two kinds of tinnitus is in objective the sound can be heard by a second party. Objective tinnitus can also be known as Pulsatile Tinnitus. This is due to the fact that the ringing sound will stay in rhythm with the beat or pulse of the heart. Objective tinnitus is usually a symptom of a more serious disease.

The most common diseases that are associated with objective tinnitus are the following:

High blood pressure can be a factor that can be prevented with a healthy diet.

Lessening the stress levels in your life will also keep you clear of tinnitus. This can include reducing your work load, focusing on hobbies that make you happy, and not letting people get to you as much.

Tumultuous blood flow can affect the carotid artery by clogging it up and causing noise in the head. A very serious problem that objective tinnitus can be associated with is neck and head tumors. If this is the case, tinnitus is probably the least of your worries. This can also kink the arteries and cause noise in the head.

Malformation of capillaries is a disease that affects the connection between your arteries and your veins. If the veins are not formed in the proper way with the arteries, a kink or obstruction will cause the noise in the inner ear.

Medical Treatment For Tinnitus And A New Hope

Many people think that there is no cure or medical treatment for Tinnitus but a recent breakthrough might prove otherwise. If you are suffering from Tinnitus then this new remedy might be just the one you were looking for.

* What is tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a condition where a person "hears" a ringing sound in one's ear despite any actual sound being present in the environment. People with tinnitus often complain of a ringing noise in their ears which drowns out all other noises, often making it very uncomfortable. This type of ringing is often compared to transient ear ringing but tinnitus is a more chronic and persistent ringing which can also take the form of roaring, chirping or hissing in some cases.

* How common is tinnitus?

It is estimated by the American Tinnitus Association that over 52 million people in the United States have tinnitus and for about 15 million of them, the symptoms are severe enough to warrant getting medical treatment. And an estimated 3 million people have a very severe case of tinnitus that inhibits them from day to day activities such as attending school or their employment.

* How can you get tinnitus?

Older people are more at risk at getting tinnitus than others but there have been reported cases of children as young as 14 getting it. Mostly, tinnitus can happen due to age related hearing loss or nerve damage in the ear, which is why it's most common among older people. Younger people can get tinnitus by exposing their ears to sudden and loud noises which can damage the ear. Tinnitus can also occur due to excessive ear wax buildup, use of certain medications, sinus infections, trauma to the lower head or neck area or medical conditions such as high blood pressure, thyroid and diabetes.

* Traditional medical treatment for tinnitus

Tinnitus used to be thought of as a purely psychological condition but not anymore. Once tinnitus was acknowledged to be a medical condition, modern day medicine has come through with prescription medication, stress and anxiety treatment and in some extreme conditions even surgery.

Typical medications use to cure and treat tinnitus have been anti depressant drugs such as Xanax, antihistamines that reduce allergies and some heart medication. There have also been some breakthroughs in homeopathic remedies that some claim to help. For those people that do not like to take traditional medication, homeopathic remedies is an alternate option.

* New breakthrough treatment for tinnitus: Neuromonics

A new treatment option for tinnitus has just been introduced by the medical community which might give new hope to people who have tried other medications and remedies and are still suffering. This new treatment is called Neuromonics or Sound Masking as it's also called. The concept of Neuromonics is simple. Low levels of sounds are transmitted into the ear by way of an earphone or earpiece, which is similar to static noise, with the intension of distracting the patient. It is hoped that this new sound will be less annoying and more comforting to the person and with time will drown out the more annoying sounds of tinnitus. Although this is not for everyone, with continued use and a little bit of getting used to, scientists believe that the brain will eventually "mask out" the annoying sounds of tinnitus and simply dial it out of perception.

Neuromonics treatment is done through a portable electronic device call the Oasis (tm). Once patients have gone through a set of hearing tests, masking sounds are customized to that patient and are loaded onto the Oasis. Patients who have participated in studies have reported that they can sleep better and also perform day to day chores better than they have been able to do.

Once a patient has been administered Neuromonics treatment for a while, the masking sound is cut back for short periods of time to let the tinnitus sound be heard. This is done so that the brain can get exposed to the two sounds alternately and gradually get used to and in tuned with the more relaxing masking sound. The goal is to train the brain to completely ignore the annoying ringing sounds and get used to a more relaxing masking sound.

Although retraining might be done successfully, the results might be short term as the brain might get accustomed to the tinnitus sounds once masking sounds are turned off. Thus doctors recommend used Neuromonics once or twice a week for 2 to 3 hours at a time to maintain the effectiveness of the treatment.

Preventing Tinnitus - How To Avoid The Causes Of Tinnitus

Prevention is the number one way to avoid the causes of tinnitus. Protecting yourself from the initial cause will help ensure that you will not suffer from the disease worsening. This is very common. Some people thing tinnitus will not affect them and they are careless with their ears. Hearing is not something you want to mess around with. Life with out sound is a lonely one and when there is a chorus of ringing and buzzing to go along with the silence it could absolutely drive you insane.

The reason tinnitus sets in has to do with the inner working of your ears and your auditory nerve. This nerve cell is crucial for your hearing and the prevention of many other very painful effects of messing with that nerve. There are a plethora of miniature hairs deep in the depths of your inner ear. These little hairs are very important because they assist in the process of the brain interpreting the pressure of sound waves into what your brain comprehends. Loud noises over a period of time can harm these hairs. The noise will bend or break these hairs and interfere with the movement that generates the cell to discharge an electric current through the auditory nerve.

That sounds confusing but in short the damage to the hairs allows noise to leak into your auditory nerve in the form of that annoying buzzing sound. The damage to these hairs can greatly further the effects of hearing loss in old age. One other thing to consider when trying to decipher the cause of your tinnitus is how loud and how often you listen to music through your headphones. The constant loud noise being so close to your inner ears can be very damaging and further the tinnitus.

There are a very high percentage of people all over the world that take over the counter or prescription drugs on a daily basis. The side effects of certain kinds of drugs can range from drowsiness to vomiting. Tinnitus could be one of the side effects that go along with some of these drugs. Be sure and talk to your doctor before starting any over the counter of prescription medicine to be sure tinnitus will not be in your future. One of the most commonly used drugs that can have a side effect of tinnitus is aspirin.

It is very important to review and school yourself on all of the side effects that go along with any drug that you consume. Some side effects of some drugs can be detrimental to your health and could eventually be fatal if used in the wrong way. Your doctor can and should by obligation inform you of any side effects that might come along with the drugs that you may be taking. You can also talk to your pharmacist if you have any questions about what the side effects are of any drug you might be taking.

Tinnitus is only a side effect of aspirin if it is used in excess causing an overdose. Aspirin should not be given to children to reduce any of the symptoms of the flu such as a fever. This can potentially be fatal in some cases. It is called Reyes syndrome and it can also affect teenagers.
If you have had treatment of hypertension or edema, you may have had loop diuretics. The drug that is used to treat these could potentially cause tinnitus. Hypertension and edema are usually associated with congestive heart failure.

Quinine is another drug that could potentially have the side effect of tinnitus. Quinine was first used to treat malaria and is still used today to treat some strings of malaria in specific situations. This is not a commonly used drug to treat malaria, but it could show up in your future medications. Preventing small pox could be another reason why you might use the drug quinine. Your doctor may also prescribe you quinine if you have complained about leg cramps interrupting your sleep or are suffering from arthritis. Other uses for quinine are to reduce fever, relieve pain and reduce inflammation.

Amino glycosides are used to treat bacterial diseases that you probably have not heard of but can possibly cause tinnitus as well. Tinnitus is not guaranteed to be a side effect of these drugs but is a definite possibility and should be kept in consideration.

There are also a number of diseases that tinnitus could possibly be a symptom of. These diseases can range from being serious and out of your control or minor and a disease that is manageable. A lot of these diseases can be prevented with simple lifestyle changes. A healthier diet and some exercise can change your life drastically and to your advantage.

Otosclerosis is a disease that affects the bones that support the area around the temple. These bones are referred to as the temporal bones. This is a very sensitive part of the human head and should always be taken to a serious degree. Otosclerosis causes these bones to deteriorate with the consequence of losing some or all of your hearing. This can also cause headaches that will be very painful almost to the extent of a migraine. Along with loss of hearing will come tinnitus. The tinnitus will be very apparent because of the loss of hearing. Silence amplifies the ringing or buzzing sound that is constantly pounding through your head.

TMJ is a disease that affects the jaw and cranium areas. The joint that is affects is the joint we use to eat, talk, chew and swallow. The pressure and force that is caused by TMJ can affect the nerves on either side of the head and cause a very uncomfortable problem. This is a painful disease that could potentially have the symptom tinnitus.

Acoustic neuroma is a problem that involves a cranial tumor. The tumor that grows in or around the auditory system is usually not a life-threatening tumor. In some rare cases the tumor can grow to the size where it can eventually become life threatening, but there is always surgery that can remove it from your head completely. This affecting the nerves in the head can result in the symptom tinnitus.

Menieres disease is a health issue that concerns the structure of the inner ear. This is a disease where tinnitus is one of the primary symptoms. The other major symptom experienced when suffering from menieres disease is extreme dizziness. It is, in most cases, confined to one ear and is accompanied by severe loss of hearing.

Lyme disease is one that most people have had experience with or are familiar. Lyme disease, also known as borrelosis, is the result of a bacterial infection due to a tick bite. Lyme disease is very serious and should not be taken lightly. The kind of tick that causes Lyme disease may vary and should be taken seriously.

If you want to gain excellent rankings in various search engines and you like to obtain high amount of traffic to your website, you must perform search engine optimization techniques. The traffic that comes from search engines is highly targeted and FREE. There's no better source of traffic.

The only problem is not all strategies that you will probably learn are right for your website, just because they have been used else where by other people. Some of them are considered to be unethical "Black Hat" techniques and are frowned upon by not only by other webmasters but, most of all, by search engines. On the other hand, they may not work since they're already outdated since many "black hat" techniques have not been updated for ages..

Here are 4 things that you should absoluted avoid because they can get you into a heap of trouble and banned from search engines.

1. Copying somebody else's content. This is very obvious but you'll be surprised how many people do it. Content plays a very vital role in search engine optimization, obviously and many webmasters tend to go the "easy" way by copying someone else's hard work from their website. It can give you the inbound links that you want and send tons of people to your website. It simply does not pay to plagiarize other people's hard work - copying everything to a T. Plagiarism may also imply paraphrasing paragraphs and sentences: different words but exactly the same thought.

This obviously doesn't go well with the original writer, to Internet users, and to search engines. For one, Google is very adamant in killing websites that are simply copying other people's content. Secondly, you will only damage your credibility if you're going to use it. Nevertheless, if you're truly pressed for time and you need some great content badly, you can check out article directories and republish articles. Don't forget to include the resource box and don't alter anything. This is the only way you can reuser other people's work.

2. Applying the same keywords and meta tags in all of your pages. Some people will use software to copy a single web page and create hundreds of them. By doing this you end up having many web pages that have the same "footprint". All of your pages should be considered unique if you want to gain the approval of search engines. So this means that each of your webpage should have a completely different subject, keywords and meta tags but related to the overall theme of your website. Make use of other keywords and meta descriptions and mix them up. Dedicate one keyword per page, if you can and optimize that page for that single keyword. This way every page will have a unique footprint.

3. Stuffing keywords. This means you use your keywords more than you should and stuff your articles and web pages with the same keyword over and over again. It's like qriting an article about dogs and using the word dog 100 time when your article is only 200 words long. That's keyword stuffing. There is definitely a good reason why many say you have to at least limit your keyword density to 3 to 5 percent. This is to ensure that you don't end up stuffing your articles with the same keywords. Whether you like it or not, it's very annoying, and besides, search engines consider this technique as unethical. Use keywords sparingly and limit it to between 3 and 5 percent.

4. Using too much flash. Flash can make your website look very attractive, but it doesn't help you in your quest for better search engine ranking. A flashy website isn't always good specially if you want to rank high. Search engine spiders cannot "read" flash and so they will simply by pass it. Flash is "flashy" and it can work against you. Search engine spiders will find it very difficult to index your pages. Second, these automated applications are programmed to read text only, not images and even flash so all that flash can lead to no ranking.

There you go. Avoid those 4 SEO strategies and you will definitely have a good chance of getting your websites ranked higher in search engines.

The 3 Most Important On-Page Optimization Tips For Your Website

Ranking high in search engines is every webmaster's dream. If your website was to be ranked in the top 3 positions for a given keyword, your website will be flooded with highly targeted traffic for free.

In the world of search engine rankings, your ultimate goal is to land the first spot in search results using a targeted keyword. One way to do that is on-page optimization. Lets see how you can do this.

On-page optimization refers to the improvement of both content and structure of the website so you can have better a chance of improving your page rank. There are numerous techniques available, but it does not mean that everything is actually applicable.

There are unethical practices known as Black Hat strategies which are frowned upon. Using those techniques will hurt your website on the long run. Thus, if you do not want to hurt your rank and even your reputation, here are some excellent techniques in on-page optimization which I highly suggest you follow.

1. Keep relevancy in your content. One of the major reasons why other websites would want to link to your website which in turn brings you a massive amount of traffic is because of your content. Another way to do this is to use your articles, and use a number of high-ranking keywords. Their purpose is to allow your article to show up once Internet users utilize your keywords in searching for information. The idea is to get your articles to appear on the first page of search results for a set of keywords that are relevant to your website.

When writing articles and playing with keywords, keep in mind that they should be relevant to the articles that you are writing about. As much as possible, your content should appear natural. Place your keywords at the right places. Most of all, do not overstuff them. Not only does it make your copies sound incomprehensible, but you will likely get punished by search engines because of such technique. Remember to use keywords sparingly.

2. Validate your HTML. There are a number of disadvantages when you do not double-check your HTML code. One of these is you will never rank well in search engine results. What's more, your website appears disoriented in some of the Internet browsers. There are many tools on the internet that will check your website for HTML errors. AnyBrowser is one of them.

To validate your HTML, you can also utilize a W3C HTML validator. All you need to do is to place your URL in it and allow the application to analyze your HTML codes and your HTML structure. In the end, it can give you a list of errors that you may have done in your webpages. You can then come up with the best solution to your problems.

3. Use for bold text in your heading tags. Here's why. One of the most effective ways to rank well with a particular keyword is to place it in your heading.

If your website is about Cats then place the word "Cat" in the heading of your website before your first paragraph. This is because search engine spiders "read" your content from top to bottom. And thus if you use bold text at the top of your web page you will have a better chance of getting a higher rank. However, to further increase your chances, set the keyword in bold. Spiders will view your keyword as highly relevant to the theme of your website which in turn will help you rank better.

There you have it. Those 3 strategies will help you optimize your website "on page".

Niche Site Promotion In 3 Easy Steps For Instant Traffic

So you have finally found a profitable niche, after hours of research and you've created a content based website for it. Or maybe you've worked a couple of weeks to create the ultimate e-book or report, have spent hundreds of dollars on graphic design and thousands on a killer sales letter.

You've clearly done your homework and have developed a small online business with high potential for great success. The only problem is, no matter how good the sales letter, the graphics or content, you won't make a cent if potential customers never get to see your website.

You see in order to make money with your site you need sales. To make sales, you need buyers. You need to promote your website correctly in order to attract buyers to it. The best website in the world would make zero dollars if no one knew about it.

So here are 3 proven steps on promoting your high quality website for instant targeted traffic. These three methods will help you promote your website to people who are willing and able to purchase your products.

Step 1. Pay Per Click Advertising

PPC or Pay Per Click advertising puts the most control into your hands because YOU decide who sees your ads. This is without doubt the fastest way to get your site in front of thousands of potential customers. While most people use only Google Adwords it would be wise not to ignore Yahoo's Search Marketing or MSN's adCenter. Many internet marketers make this mistake and miss out on tons of top quality, low cost traffic. If you need to get traffic to your website right away then PPC is the way to go.

If you don't have a lot of experience with PPC you should read as much as you can on the subject before spending money. Do a simple search on Google and you'll find tons of free sources that will help you learn how to run an effective PPC campaign. This type of advertising is very powerful, but if done incorrectly can lose you a lot of money. So be careful and make sure you know what you are doing BEFORE you spend money. Read many articles on article directories such as ezinearticles[dot]com and also do a search on Google for perry marshall adwords to learn more about PPC.

While doing PPC you will generate opt-ins, sales and even affiliates from your site this is extremely valuable information so make sure you gather it.

Step 2. Solo Ads

When you have a top quality site, with good conversion rates, buying a solo ad can be the easiest way for instant profit.

A solo ad is an email ad that you write (or hire someone to write it for you) and pay a webmaster with a highly developed subscriber list in your niche, a one time fee to send the ad to the entire list.

This is why it's very important to have conversion data. Let's say that after Step 1, you realized your site has a conversion rate of 5%. This means that if you buy a solo ad for a list with 2000 subscribers, you'll make somewhere around 100 sales. Depending on the price of your product, you can make a very nice profit with practically no extra work on your part.

To find places where to run solo ads, just use Google and search for solo ads, buy solo ads or yourniche + solo ads.

You can also search for sites in your niche that appear in top spots on Google, Yahoo and MSN and have an opt-in form. Contact the webmasters show them your product and offer to pay them in exchange for a solo ad.

Step 3. JV Partners

We've practically started to talk about finding JV partners at the end of step2, but in step 3 we're going to go even further with our proposal.

While solo ads are a great way for generating instant cash, wouldn't it be great if those webmasters would keep promoting your product on their site and to their list on a regular basis? And with no extra effort or cash spent on your part?

It may sound too good to be true but actually it's very achievable. After you run a few solo ads on different lists you should update your conversion information. Be sure to make a small report about this because you'll need it.

All you have to do now is to approach the same or different webmasters and ask them if they'd like to become your affiliate. Give them a high commission percentage, the conversion report, the link to your site, banners, and the e-book or report you are selling.

If you do everything correctly, business owners will be more than happy to become your affiliate and practically do all the work of sending commissions your way.

So you want to optimize your website for search engines and make it more Search Engine "Friendly". There are many webmasters who focus on on-page search engine optimization. After all, this technique is considered as their first "bait" for their targeted Internet users. However, you should realize that your on-page optimization efforts will never be enough. You need to make sure that even if you are not doing any optimization, you are still boosting your page rank and driving traffic in your website. So you will need to do some off-page optimization techniques to compliment your on-page SEO. What this means is that you should focus your efforts off your website and onto other areas so that your website will look "good" to search engines. Let's see how this can be done easily.

When it comes to off-page optimization, there's one excellent strategy that you need to follow. That is inbound linking from top quality sites. What this means is that you need to get other top quality websites to link to your website. Here are some tips on how you can generate links coming into your website from other websites.

1. Do some article marketing. Content is indeed considered to be king in the World Wide Web. After all, the very reason why Internet users visit websites is because they're looking for quality and fresh information. You can make use of your content to drive traffic into your website and increase your inbound links. A good way to go about doing this is to add text links to your website in the body of your articles using your targeted keywords. You can better your chances of appearing in search engine results because of this technique. Of course, you can also link back to your website through your resource box found of your articles. You can also submit some articles in ezines. This way, your articles can be picked up by publishers and placed in their webpages-with your website's links in them, that use your main keywords as link titles.

2. Build a blog. Weblogs today are gaining notoriety among SEO professionals. For one, they are very easy to update. Second, you don't have to sound so professional with this tool. Even the most unsavy beginner can use blogs to their advantage. Most of all, you can generate excellent inbound links. Blogs are very search engine friendly as well. This means that they can easily get indexed in search engines. You can link your blog back into your website, and you can watch your page rank increase. If you're doing well with your blogs, you can also find numerous requests from other bloggers to link to you. As long as your links are found in their blogs, you will still be generating traffic and excellent PR without having to do much on your on-page efforts.

3. Participate in forums. Forums are a very good way to talk with other webmasters and exchange links. What's more, you can generate inbound links from
message boards. You do this by simply adding a link to your websitein your profile, or you can add a URL in your signature file. The more posts you make the more links you'll get back. Make sure that you do not spam message boards or forums though. You'll quickly find that you'll be kicked out of those places if your posts look like spam.

There you go. By using those simple off page SEO techniques you can do your website a lot of good and make it more Search Engine Friendly

In the world of internet marketing, there is one thing that every webmaster needs in order to be successful, traffic, without traffic you cannot make sales for your products, get clicks on your adsense ads, gain email subscribers or anything else that you may wish to achieve with your website. Traffic is the lifeline of every website on the internet.

The following seven methods for generating traffic are proven to achieve results and most can be implemented immediately:

Writing articles is an excellent way for generating traffic and backlinks to a website and it is also completely free to do.
RSS stands for "Rich Site Summary" or "Really Simple Syndication", and is another exciting internet marketing method that can help you boost web traffic and skyrocket your sales. When a web site owner wants to share content with other web sites, the content can be placed into an RSS document and registered with an RSS publisher. This content can include articles, press releases, blog postings, headlines, web content, and any other information that the web site owner wants to allow others to read.

Because of the ease of distribution and the potential for unique web traffic, you can use this technique to improve your online marketing efforts. The key to using RSS as a successful marketing tool is to have useful content that engages and informs your intended audience. No one will want to read boring or useless information, and they certainly won't want to pass it on to others. Use the following tips to make your content sizzle so that your target market will keep coming back for more.

Articles for RSS

When you write articles for use in RSS feeds, put yourself in the shoes of your intended audience members. As a busy professional, do you want to read long articles with large blocks of text, or would you rather read short how-to articles and checklists? Write your articles to be long enough to provide at least one important piece of information, but short enough to capture the attention of even the busiest professional.

Consider breaking longer articles into one article series. Instead of writing one 2,000 word article, you can write ten 200-word articles that are more likely to be read. These shorter articles are also perfect for submission to online newsletters and e-zines. In addition to considering length, consider the topics you can write about.

Make sure that your articles are appropriate for your intended audience in terms of subject matter and depth. A beginner audience will get discouraged with overly technical articles and an advanced audience will not want to read simple tips and how-to articles.

RSS Press Releases

Press releases can easily be distributed with RSS, much like other types of content. Your press releases need to be targeted and contain information that presents your business in the best light. You can send press releases out for many reasons including changes in ownership, special events, charitable donations, the addition of new staff members, and an increase in the number of products and services you provide.

If you write just one press release a week, you can see a startling improvement in your web site traffic due to all the one-way links your submission efforts can generate. Using press releases is also a great way to encourage other people to post your information on their web sites.

RSS Blog Postings

Blogs are one of the most effective internet marketing tools currently available. They're also relatively inexpensive and easy to maintain. Blogs allow you to post information about your company, optimize your web site for the search engines, and have customers leave comments so that your web site becomes interactive. When you write blog postings that will be used for RSS, keep the same principles of article writing in mind. Shorter posts are better because people can read them in between major projects or when they want to take a quick break from their work.

You should also be sure to write for your intended audience. Don't overly promote your business in your postings. Instead, give people information and resources that they can use and they'll be encouraged to keep visiting your web site. This can help you build solid customer relationships and improve your sales conversion rate.

RSS Content

There are many other types of content that can be used to promote your business through RSS. You can turn all of your knowledge into tip sheets, special reports, question and answer listings, and almost any other type of content that can be used with RSS. Keep in mind the rules for writing content for a target audience and you can successfully use your content to develop your web traffic and help to improve your sales conversion rate.

Setting Up an RSS Feed

Setting up an RSS feed requires a small investment of your time that can help you see a phenomenal return. If you want to set up your own RSS feed, you'll need to have a server, a database with descriptions of your content, and the ability to use scripting. If you're not able to use scripting or you don't have a server or database set up, you can hire a freelancer to do the technical work for you so you can concentrate on finding ways to make your content available all over the Web.

Once you have everything ready to go, you can find an aggregate, or RSS publisher, to submit your content to for syndication. Many of these aggregates are available and allow you to submit your site under a specific category.

Categorizing Your Feed

When you submit your content to an aggregate, you need to make sure you submit it under the right category. This helps you to make sure your intended audience can access your information.

If you own a sporting goods business and accidentally categorize your content under a home furnishings category, people will wonder why your content is listed and will not be interested in visiting your web site. Review your content and make a list of categories that it might fit into. If you are a freelance writer, you can categorize your content under small business, home business, marketing, web content, search engine optimization, or publishing depending on the type of writing you do.

The important thing is not to pigeon-hole your content into one category. If your content can be used by many different audiences, submit to several aggregates under different categories to see the best return on your investment.

Online advertising is exploding. With it has come new technology that turns blogs into the best platform to run an online business. The video stream has been described as a savvy use of a cheap toy for online marketing. In fact, some of the most profitable videos on the Internet today were made on webcams or digital cameras.

The two main purposes of a marketing video are to create awareness of a product or service, or to educate visitors.

The video ad is a virtual commercial that is viewed on a website, or sent through RSS feed to other websites through services like Adbrite and Google. These are short commercials. However, because they are made for a computer screen, a professional can make the video for less than $5,000.00. And, a determined do-it-yourself director can make one for under $400.00.

A web video is created to educate visitors and lead them through your web site's presentation. It increases sales by educating visitors. This overcomes the main reason why visitors leave a website.

A visitor's failure to understand instructions, or their refusal to read instructions, is the number one reason for lack of sales. Video forces visitors to pay attention to instructions and stops them from leaving the page.

There are dozens of video companies who will make expensive videos for a web site and then offer hosting. At first this appears to be an easy and effective way to introduce video to your website. Unfortunately, the cost is almost never justified. It is better to make a homemade video, and change it monthly. Once you see how easy it is, and how good the quality, you'll be sold. If you doubt this, go to MySpace or YouTube and look at all the great quality videos made by amateurs.

YOUTUBE & GOOGLE VIDEO

Sticky websites are the main tool for today's content site managers. They are finding it more difficult to build an opt-in list. It is difficult to keep visitors connected to the web site until they purchase. They need a real strong hook to keep visitors.

YouTube is a free service that lets webmasters embed their own video, or other video, onto a web site. Imbedding a video clip from a famous author, an industry guru, or even a news clip that relates to an article dramatically increases the impact, and sticky factor of the web page.

YouTube allows users to upload their own video and then embed it, with player, on their web site. This video can instruct, sell to, or build trust between the visitor and the product. In fact, it can become the product.

As for the marketing power of video, YouTub recently surpassed CNN's hits per day, and MySpace video has surpassed AOL, according to Alexa. No wonder Google recently purchased YouTube for more money than many small countries are worth. This is a mute testament to the power of video.

Each of the three main video hosting sites have their advantages and disadvantages. MySpace is social based. Its ignorance of hard core porn leaves a bad taste in many Social Networking and SEO webmasters. There are very few intellectual videos on MySpace, and there is no way to easily embed them onto your web page. This means that people must leave the site to see them, or the webmaster must embed a video player.

Google video is too complicated. It can take more than twenty minutes to sign up. And then there is a complicated tutorial.

This leaves YouTube, as the leading service for most webmasters. YouTube allows a webmaster to sign up and embed video on their website in less than two minutes.

PODCASTING

Podcasting, or audio streaming, has been around for several years. It ranges from creating a radio station with syndication, or setting up a small web based audio sites, to uploading an audio stream onto your website.

Podcasting is the most cost-effective method of retaining customers, improving sales, and educating visitors. However, it is time consuming. It takes at least 30 hours of streaming, rotated in four hour blocks, to effectively create a 24 hour broadcast. The content should be continually updated. Even tutorials should change every few weeks.

Another setback for podcasting is the bandwidth and storage requirement. While there are cheap $5 a month services, you can find site that offer a complete service with royalty management, few webmasters are utilizing the services properly. Those web sites that are using these services are not scripting and editing, resulting in poor content.

The place where Podcasting excels is in short online tutorials. Many web sites utilize them with a PowerPoint presentation, creating a tutorial. While this is a 'poor cousin' to the Macromedia flash tutorials, Powerpoint has the benefit of saving each slide as a .gif, making it easy for amateurs to incorporate on their web sites.

It is easy to imbed an audio stream. Just upload the file, and then hyperlink it to a button on the web page. When the button is clicked, the user's Media player will play the audio.

An audio file can even be linked to photos. A shopping cart with ten cameras on a page can include separate audio streams discussing the benefits of each. The visitor only needs to click a link and/or the image to start the audio stream.

The internet is tiring of web sites that sell ebook downloads. Instead of writing an ebook think 'new trend.' The emerging trend is online tutorials, either audio and PowerPoint, audio and photo, Macromedia flash, or video streaming.

HOW TO PROFIT

Each of these tools are used to create a sticky web site. They are used on blogs, web sites, and in forums. These tools 'tease' users. Then, when they are hooked, a full video course can be offered.

Bloggers do this. They offer 'how to courses' that span 500 blogs, or, the visitor can purchase the ebook, or download the entire course in an audio file.

Video has one main advantage over ebooks and podcasts. While an ebook may fetch $50 - $100.00, the exact same content packaged in a video course could fetch as much as $1,000.00.

Once you are prepared to profit, it is time to trash your homemade product and create a professional one.

Camtasia is an easy software system that allows video editing. It is moderately priced at $299.99. Camtasia Studio 4.0 makes it easy to publish videos and MP3 files for iPod, or other portable media players. Now your marketing message, screencast, lecture, or training video can reach anyone, anywhere, on the bus, in a coffee shop, or even while they're jogging. Camtasia is easy to learn, easy to use, and affordably priced.

BRINGING IT TOGETHER

Today's generation has been acclimatized to video. It is part of everything they do - their work, their education, and definitely their entertainment. They will not easily tire of video and audio streaming.

Webmasters do not need to worry about investing money into these mediums, only to have them go out of vogue like so many other Internet Marketing tools have. And, best of all, video is fun to create, easy to use, and very profitable.
