Outsmart The System And Fight Speeding Tickets

Rushing to get to work because you woke up late can almost always guarantee a speeding ticket. The chance of being pulled over for speeding is higher if you have a new car and you are just dying to see how fast it can go. Of course, there are times when you simply just did not care about how fast you are driving.

Whatever the reason, you will still be pulled over and be slapped with a ticket. Situations like this, you either plead guilty or not guilty. If you plead guilty, then you need to pay the appropriate fine written on the ticket. This is perhaps the easy way out. You will be off the hook fast.

But the problem is that you may not have enough cash to pay for the fine. What's even more frustrating is that if you did not do the dirty deed on purpose (it's known to happen). Paying up is an option if you have cash, but what happens if you do not have cash? Well, there is a solution for that, but it will entail going to the court, pleading guilty, explaining your story and hoping and praying that the judge is sympathetic enough to believe your flimsy excuse.

If you are lucky, you get a substantial reduction on the fine slapped on you. While this option may save you some cash, it may not be worth the trouble of going to the court and pleading your case. Let's face it, you want to settle this as quickly and as convenient as possible.

The good news is that there are people who have been fighting speeding tickets and succeeding. And just what is the secret of their success? Pleading not guilty and opting to go on trial. This may sound a little strange option, but fighting speeding tickets entail a little bit of creativity.

Should you go this route, you will need to appear on trial and plead your case. If you have every reason to believe that you have not violated any traffic rules, then make sure that you are well prepared to defend yourself. But before you can even get to that stage, there is a chance that the cop that issued your speeding ticket will not show up on trial. If this happens, the ticket gets automatically dismissed. This is perhaps the scenario that you want to happen.

Not many cops would readily and willingly appear on court especially if the offense is not grave. So, the chance of your case being dismissed is quite high given such condition.

When the cop shows up, then you need to present your case and prove that you are not guilty. If have carefully prepared your defense and reasoning, then you might just win the case. If the judge doesn't buy your excuse, it will not be so bad because you will still end up paying lower than the fine. With a good defense, the fine may be reduced. What this means is that you don't necessarily plead guilty and pay up.

Fighting speeding tickets is possible. Remember, convictions can hurt your driving record and consequently, your insurance.

The Art and Magic of Faux Painting

Faux painting's history can be traced as far back as thousands of years ago and yet it has continued to keep the decor world completely in awe. To the uninitiated, Faux painting is a type of painting technique that replicates materials with paint. This means that through the paint and skillful manipulation, materials such as marble and wood are being reproduced as works of art.

If you are quite observant, you will see these types of painting gracing the walls, floors, and ceilings of some of the posh places you frequently visit. The idea is to make the painting as realistic as possible that it is able to fool whoever is looking at it. In most cases, people would normally touch a particular faux painting to double check if it is indeed made of a specific material.

Take for instance, marble. Instead of making use of actual marble blocks, the faux painting master can replicate the marble in paint form, capturing all the intricacies involved. Looking at such paintings will make you question your perception of style and space. Since these works of art specifically create to mimic the effects of particular materials, you can only imagine the time it takes to master such technique.

Not many people are into such artsy decorative pieces, but it can be said that faux paintings have helped push designers and decorators to find new ways to reinvent old works. It is quite fascinating to know that Faux paintings have been used even during the time of Ancient Egypt, where hieroglyphics and ancient cave paintings fulfill certain objectives (i.e. historical records).

Little did we know that such ancient and crude way of recording historical events can serve as an inspiration to create a unique art form. While some may not look at faux painting as art in the strictest sense, it is very much accepted as part of Decorative Arts.

Between the late 1980s and early 1990s, faux paintings and faux finishings have been embraced by interior decorators and so the design revolution has started. This is during the time when wallpapers were going out of fashion. However, since the paint technique requires mastery, having a faux finishing for your home or office or place of business can be very expensive.

Fortunately, this has not deterred people from making use of faux paintings. In fact, it became quite trendy that price was not much an issue. Its popularity has helped pushed for the creation of simple faux painting methods that even an amateur or a beginner can do. This means that materials have become easily accessible and that the technique only requires simple instructions. You can even choose from various finishes being offered which include: marbling, graining, color wash, Strie, Trompe l'oeil, Venetian plaster, glazing and rag painting.

Of course, if you are keen on having an awe-inspiring look, you will need to hire a professional faux painter. This is to ensure that you are getting the correct design and effect that will dazzle the onlookers.

Not many people like to go to the dentist because of the horror dental stories that have circulated, most of which are not true. This is a generalized perception of dental hygiene and preservation. It would be quite surprising to meet someone who is very willing to visit the dentist. In some cases, people just choose to ignore their debilitating toothaches just to avoid the dentist. It's just unfortunate that such perception of oral care is preventing people from having a healthy set of teeth. Depending on the severity of the disease, there will be different levels of pain that will be felt during the process. It is for this reason that some people avoid going to the dentist, unless it's really necessary.

Traditional dentistry is concerned with oral hygiene; this includes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of oral diseases. In most cases, these are done as part of semi-annual or annual medical examination. Simply put, people go to the dentist because it is necessary in order to address dental problems.

There is another branch of dentistry that is mainly focused on the aesthetics. It's called cosmetic dentistry. This means that if you are particularly looking for a desired treatment to make your teeth look better, then you would have to go visit a dentist who specializes in such practice. Of course, cosmetic dentistry is not just limited to making your mouth feel and look pretty, it also provides restorative services. Dental filling is one example of this type of service. While you can get dental filling from the traditional dentist, it's in a cosmetic dentist where you can choose a filling made of porcelain which matches your natural teeth color.

Technological advancements in the field of dentistry has made breakthroughs in cosmetic dentistry, in that cosmetic dental treatments are now able to restore your teeth to their healthy appearance. This also means that the preservation of your natural teeth is now possible. With that said, cosmetic dentistry is able to repair chipped, discolored, broken or decayed teeth. What's great about it is that you can select from various dental treatments or procedures that you think will help improve your oral appearance.

Cosmetic dentistry provides several options for people who may not have serious dental problems, but are not very happy with the way their teeth look like. A bad teeth can affect your overall appearance, specifically in the way you smile. If you feel embarrassed about it, you will just not smile at all. It's enough to make you lose confidence when interacting with people around you. If you are very much concerned about the appearance of your teeth, then you might need to consult a cosmetic dentist so that you can see the possible dental treatments available for the particular oral condition that you have.

Before deciding to undergo any dental treatment, it is important to do your research so you can find the best dentist to take care of your cosmetic dentistry needs. Make sure that the dentist you choose is a licensed professional and has a good reputation.

A majority of the world's population is suffering from the harmful effects of cigarette smoking, and only a very low percentage of it will successfully quit the habit. Once an individual starts to smoke, it is very hard to cease it.

Smokers have their own reasons why they are into this kind of addiction, for example:

1. They say that smoking gives them a feeling of relief and relaxation during times of stress because somehow their way of breathing is slowed down by puffing a cigarette.
2. Since teenagers are a common category of smokers in society, they have their own reasons why they engage with such a habit. Advertisements on cigarettes have a big influence because it usually shows beautiful sceneries and women that are attractive enough to make the smokers think that smoking is a beautiful thing to do.
3. 'To fit in' is also a reason why they smoke, since almost everybody is doing it. They also think that it makes them look good especially in social gatherings.

Whatever their reasons are, there are also explanations why smokers have to kick this bad habit away from their lifestyle. Here are the following benefits that you can get if you were to quit:

1. Three days without puffing a single cigarette can make your blood pressure return to normal, the nicotine and carbon monoxide are minimized by 50%, the oxygen level in blood also returns to normal state, and makes it easier for you to breathe.
2. You become more physically fit and your endurance for heavy work is increased.
3. Imagine the money you can save if you don't have to buy cigarettes again.
4. Smoking greatly affects your appearance. You can have darkened lips, yellow teeth and nails, and dark gums.
5. Smoking also affects your fertility. For men, it affects the sperm production and quality that can result to impotence; and there is a high risk of miscarriage for women.
6. Babies who are born to smoking mothers are likely to be premature and have lesser weights. They are also prone to early death after being delivered.
7. You can get fatal diseases for smoking like cancers in lungs, bladder, stomach and kidney to name a few.
8. Pneumonia, heart diseases and osteoporosis are also products of smoking.
9. Your family will be in less danger in the so-called second hand smoking which effects are doubled.

The above reasons will somehow urge the smokers to quit. However, their usual excuse is that it is hard to start doing it and stopping it for good. It is not about quitting in the literal sort of way; it also has steps on how to do it.

1. Start by minimizing the number of sticks you consume everyday. As the days go by, you will be surprised that your craving to smoke is lessened.
2. Try substituting chewing gums or foods instead of cigarettes.
3. Consult an expert to give you psychological, and health information about coping up with your adjustment.
4. Talk to someone you know who had successfully kicked his smoking habits. It will surely give you enough inspiration that if he did it, so can you.

To quit smoking is never been easy especially to those who are very dependent to it. But it only takes determination, discipline, inspiration, and hard work to be victorious in your fight against smoking.

The Ever Useful Satellite Phone

Satellite phone maybe considered as out of date type of phone today because of the rapid emerging of cellular phones that use cell sites to acquire the signal they need. If we compare all the satellite phones being sold in the world market, they are obviously outnumbered by the other one.

Also known as the satphone, this type of wireless handy phone are connected directly to the orbiting satellite in space, unlike those phones that rely on the signal coming from the cell sites around the area. Satphones can be used anywhere in the world, but some depends on the structure of the system which coverage are in limited areas only.

Just like any other things being created in this world, these phones also had evolved throughout the years since it was invented. The first of its kind had big sizes and heavy to hold, compare with the ones created during the late 80's and 90's which sizes are reduced to fit the hands of the users and much lighter. If there is only one thing that remained unchanged, it was the large antenna.

This type of phone is usually used in remote areas especially during calamities and emergencies other mobile phones are useless because of the unavailability of cell site services. However, satphones have poor receptions when used indoors, so the user must go outside and find some clearings to acquire good signal, or at least use it near the window or houses that have thin roofing. This amazing gadget had been very useful during September 11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, the collapsed Minnesota bridge just last 2007, and the Hawaiian earthquake. Another citation on the advantage of using satphones among others is its services are not affected during the occurrence of natural calamities that usually destroy cell sites.

Although these can give us such communication services, there is still a negative thing that happens while using it. Knowing the distance it can reach, expect the delay in your conversations because its signal should travel to its space satellite first before reaching the earth again and finally to the one you are talking to.

Despite of this single disadvantage, we can never deny its usefulness to humans. We can be linked to a place where no man has ever been to. It can also connect us to our loved ones who are in the military or mountains.

Moving on, there are three big satellite phone networks that are presently operating. They are as follows:

Iridium - this network uses up to sixty six satellites that are called Low Earth Orbit or LEO located in our polar orbits about four hundred eighty miles above the sea level. This also offers a total global coverage.

Globalstar - this network however uses forty LEO satellites that as high as eight hundred seventy miles. This covers most places on earth but not all of it.

Thuraya - unlike the first two networks, this is one can only cover a few areas on earth that includes Middle East, Europe, Northern and Central Africa, and the Central Asia.

No matter how the calls and the satphone will cost, this gadget is definitely a must-have for its services are out-of-this-world.

Pregnancy Nutrition: What Expectant Mothers Need To Know

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing. It's just unfortunate that some people see it as a grueling nine-month long ordeal. What you may not realize is that pregnancy can actually be a fun and enjoyable experience. Think of it as nine months of anticipation that will culminate the moment you hear the first cry of your newborn. Each pregnancy can be different, but that's not to say there is no common denominator. Aside from the final product (the baby!), every woman that is carrying a child needs to be aware of pregnancy nutrition. Nutrition is important to expecting mothers because it can spell the difference between a healthy newborn and a sickly child.

There are so many myths and wives tales that have been thrown around when it comes to pregnancy. Superstitious mothers are more likely to believe in them. It's perfectly fine because some of those beliefs (whether true or not) are hinged on culture and religion. As such, it's highly understandable when pregnant women follow them. But when it comes to pregnancy nutrition, expectant moms should be following scientifically-proven practices to make sure that the baby is healthy and strong when it is born. The general belief is that during pregnancy, a woman should eat for two people. While it is understood that the baby inside the womb gets its nutrition from the food that the mother eats, it does not necessarily mean that the mother will eat as much as she can. What needs to be understood here is that it's not in how much food is consumed, it's in the quality of the food that is being given to the baby. With that said, a pregnant woman should make sure that she eats foods that are rich in vitamins and nutrients.

A pregnancy nutrition plan is necessary to ensure that the baby is being nourished with healthy food. Having a well balanced diet may sound too general, but it's really what any doctor would recommend. This kind of diet consists of food that belong from all the food groups. So, if you remember those food groups, you should be eating fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meat, fish, eggs, and food that contains fat and carbohydrates. Striking a balance in the consumption of these foods will guarantee that your baby is being nourished the right way.

Pregnant women needs about 2500 calories per day; 10% of which should be from protein, roughly 35% from fat, and 55% from carbohydates. With this in mind, you can come up with a daily or weekly menu. You are allowed to eat some sweets provided that you eat them in moderation. Aside from the well-balanced meal, it's also necessary to take supplements. The most important vitamin to take during pregnancy is vitamin B, particularly, B9. This is because a pregnant woman needs folic acid, which is important for the creation of the baby's nervous system. If you want to get folic acid from natural sources, you can eat green vegetables, orange juice, peas, lentils, and rice, to name a few.

The health of your baby depends on what the mother eats, hence, it is important to follow a proper pregnancy nutrition plan.

Abercrombie and Fitch Co. gave way to its offspring of yet another brand of clothes, Hollister. This clothing comapny centers on one central theme for both dudes and bettys, the surfing lifestyle in South California.

In a survey conducted by US Bancorp Piper Jaffray, results revealed that most teens prefer Hollister for the category Teens Top Clothing Brand. It topped the survey for four years in a row.

Hollister Co. launched its products in its first shop in 2007 of July in Columbus, Ohio. For Abercrombie & Fitch, every brand under its wing should always have a fictional background. For example, the fake story behind Hollister brand says that a certain person named J.M. Hollister founded a merchant shop in Southern California called Hollister in 1922.

However, this company became so successful in just a few years that it started to eat on its mother brand's revenue or sales. In marketing, this is called cannibalism effect. Abercrombie and Fitch's sales decreased because of their popularity among people especially teenagers. Because of this, they draw a line between Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister. For A&F clothing, they used materials with higher quality and made construction more sophisticated than Hollister clothing.

The marketing strategy used to sell Hollister is quite simple. They are using the walking self-advertisement technique in which people who are wearing the company's clothes will be the advertising the products because there are usually large prints of the brands name, logo, initials, and fictional date of establishment on most of their clothing items.

Hollister wanted to create a vintage feel to further support their fictional date of establishment and their targeted lifestyle by using sepia tones on their images and editing techniques to make them look faded.

The style of Hollister clothes are casual and laid back, perfect for the young people who lead adventurous and rugged lifestyles.

Instead of using the traditional categories used by most clothing company like men and women to categorize their clothes, Hollister uses surf slang such as Dudes and Bettys to keep the surfing lifestyle in SoCal theme.

They offer applique and heritage t-shirts, outerwear, polos, henleys, fleece, shirts, knits, regular or distressed low-rise jeans, fragrance, flip flops, and many more. Hollister also sells toiletries and body care merchandise like body washes, antiperspirant, and deodorant, unlike other Abercrombie and Fitch's brands. They also offer beauty products like lip glosses, lip shines, lip balms, mists, and lotions.

Hollister uses names of the many different SoCal beaches. Their logo is the flying seagull, which is seen on all of their merchandise.

The target consumers or customers of Hollister are teenagers or young adults from the age of early teens to mid-twentys, that's why they want to keep the prices of their products affordable.

The brand Hollister has become so popular among teenagers or young people who go to school. So don't be surprised when you see many, many students, in high schools and universities alike, sporting Hollister brand of clothes and other items. It has become the trend now for cool, young people who want to wear something comfortable yet fashionable.

Nike is a popular brand of shoes and other sports apparel and accessories. Its headquarters are in Beaverton, Oregon. Considered as the biggest and most successful brand of sports goods, Nike has become a pop culture icon, with customers averaging 60% of the total market.

It all started in 1963 to 1964 when two people, a track coach (Bill Bowerman) and a mid-distance runner (Phil Knight) decided to import and distribute running shoes that are cheap yet high quality from Japan. Back then, German companies dominated the market for sports shoes. They call their small company of two people Blue Ribbon Sports.

In 1965, Jeff Johnson, Knight's former competitor, joined the duo and he became the sales person for the company.

However, around 1970's, Bowerman got tired of just importing and selling shoes. He decided he wanted to do more than just that, he wanted to create his own designs. Luckily, inspiration struck when he accidentally poured rubber into a waffle maker, the very first prototype for the famous Nike Waffle Outsole. This is the start of the revolutionary designs which up to now is still very famous and well-loved among Nike fans and regular buyers.

The current name of the company, Nike, Inc. blossomed when Jeff Johnson dreamt of the goddess of victory in Greek mythology, Nike. Some of the most famous creations of Nike using the waffle outsole are the Waffle Racer, Air Max 93, Max 95, Air Max 97, and Air Force One, to name a few.

Nike shoes and other sporting goods have the Nike logo, the Swoosh. Knight asked a graphic design student, Carolyn Davidson, from Portland State University to create a logo that will be placed on the side of Nike shoes.

Probably the most famous and influential endorser of the Nike shoes, Michael Jordan signed a contract under Nike, Inc. in 1984 to endorse Air Jordan, his very own signature line of shoes under Nike.

Here are other important milestones of the Nike shoe industry.

1979 M. Frank Rudy invented the Air technology for Nike.
1982 Nike Air Force One first used the Air technology.
1984 Air Jordan was launched.
1986 Sales of Nike exceeds $1 billion.
1987 Air Max shoes had been introduced by Nike.
1988 The Just Do It slogan was launched.
1990 Nike opened the famous Niketown shop in Portland, Oregon. This shop received many awards related to business and retail design.
1993 Nike started a project which recycles used sports shoes that can help in constructing courts, tracks and fields. The program is called Reuse-A-Shoe. They will put all the old shoes they have collected into their very own Nike Grind to separate and grind the material.
1994 The company started to have its name in the football fields as well. Nike tied up with a football team from Brazil.
1996 Another effort to popularize Nike golf, they signed up Eldrick Tiger Woods to endorse the Nike line of sporting goods for golf. In this same year, they also opened Niketown in New York specifically in Manhattan.
2000 Nike introduce Shox technology.
2003 Nike acquired Converse Shoes for $305 million. They were also given the title Advertiser of the Year by the Cannes Advertising Festival.
2004 Sales increased up to more than $13 billion.
2005 Nike introduced a line that features eco-friendly merchandise to lessen waste. The line is called Nike Considered.

A Brief History Of Keds Shoes

Keds shoes are best described as classic, authentic, high quality, comfortable, and stylish.

Keds shoe brand has been established in 1916. The company which manufactured Keds was the U.S. Rubber Company, or Uniroyal as it is known today. At first, they decided to name the shoes Peds which means foot in Latin. However, another company had already been registered under that name, so they changed it to Keds. In 1917, Keds were sold to public for the first time as canvas-top sneakers.

The word sneakers was first used by Keds. The term was coined by Henry Nelson McKinney, an agent for N.W. Ayer & Son for advertising, because the soles of the shoes don't make any sounds on different kinds of surface. It can especially be used when people want to sneak around quietly and they don't want to be caught, thus the name sneakers.

Since then, Keds shoes have become a must-have for many people from different backgrounds.

Pro-Keds is a line of athletic shoes which are not just made for casual use but for more specialized function, like basketball. Keds introduced this line in the 1960's and the 1970's. Since then, basketball players are usually found wearing Pro-Keds when playing.

It has become popular for girls back in mid-1980's to mid-1990's to wear Keds paired with slouch socks and leggings as their cheerleading uniform.

However, in the 1990's, many brands of shoes especially for women came out like mushrooms on rainy days. This period resulted in a considerable decrease in Keds popularity and probably sales.

But thanks to some celebrities who endorsed Keds like Mischa Barton from the O.C. and The Veronicas, a duo from down under, Keds is now on its way back to its place in the fashion world. Also, because of vintage's recent come back, Pro-Keds has also regained its popularity.

Keds canvas shoes come in different styles and designs which you can choose from. They have the classic canvas champion sneaker and the wedges known for their vintage styles. Its collection also includes ballet flats, Nanette Lepore, Mary Jane, skimmers, lace up, slip ons, mules, Kedettes, Rave, sandals, and sporty sneakers. Recently, Keds is also offering its services for people who want to personalize their sneakers. Customers can choose or make their own designs. They can customize their shoes even further by selecting their preferred colors, graphics, text, and photos.

You can find Keds worn by different celebrities from different TV shows like Erin Moran form Happy Days, Tiffany Thiessen from Saved By The Bell, Jodie Sweetin from Full House, and Beverly Mitchell from 7th Heaven. You probably might have not noticed but Keds sneakers were also worn by Mara Wilson from the movie Matilda back in 1996 and by Claire Lyons from The Clique Series.

But the oldest recorded person who wore Keds was Grandma Gatewood. She was a hiker and in 1955, she was able to hike the 2,168-mile Appalachian Trail wearing Keds.

Over the years, Keds are continuously doing innovations and designs that could fit today's customers needs, which makes Keds retain its position in the fashion ladder.
