Uranus is planet very much like Jupiter and Saturn, a big mass of gas without a firm surface. But it is much smaller than either of them and much further from the sun. As it receives much less heat from the sun, the temperature on its surface is lower. It has a very tick cloud of methane which is just not possible on Saturn or Jupiter.

It is this presence of methane on the planet which gives it its characteristic blue color. It was only in March 1977 did the astronomers notice that there were rings around the planet, just like those around Saturn but much thinner. The circles like Jupiter are very dark, but are composed of large particles and fine dust as that of Saturn.

Up till now 11 rings have been seen but they all are very dull. This discovery of rings around Uranus is of substantial significance as this shows that rings around planets are a common feature and not some specialty of Saturn only.

Uranus was discovered by a British Astronomer William Herschel while methodically searching the sky with his 160 mm telescope in March 1781. Initially he thought it was a comet. The planet has been sighted many times before but was dismissed as just another star. The first time it is recorded as being seen by John Flamsteed in 1690.

It was named Uranus in consistency with the other planet names taken from the classical mythology. Its vast distance from the sun makes it very difficult to observe. In 1787 Herschel discovered 2 satellites and they were named Titania and Oberon. Later more satellites were discovered by other astronomers.

Although the planet was shaped at around the same time and the same manner as Saturn, its axis of rotation is very different. Instead of being perpendicular, it is parallel to the plane of its orbit. Its extraordinary position can be a consequence of some collision with another planet maybe the size of Earth.

Its satellites also must have tilted with it as they revolve around Uranus in equatorial orbit. There can be another explanation for this. It is very possible that it's sideway movement through our solar system is because of gravitational disturbances from other planets.

Voyager 2 is the only spacecraft which has visited this planet on Jan 24 1986.When Voyager 2's passed Uranus, its south pole was pointing more or less directly at the Sun. As a result Uranus' polar section gets more energy from the Sun compared to its equatorial regions. But still Uranus hotter on its equator than it is at its poles. The reason for this is still not clear. Voyager 2 took the first and up till date the only clear picture of the planet in January 1986.

On a clear night; it is only sometimes and that to a very faint Uranus planet can be seen by naked eyes. But if you know where to look in the sky it is easy to spot Uranus with a pair of binoculars. If a small astronomical telescope is used to see the planet as a small disk.

Why Saturn Is Called The Ringed Planet

Saturn can also be said to be 'The Ringed Planet'. It is the second largest planet in our solar system and the sixth planet from the Sun. Like Jupiter, Saturn is also a huge mass of gaseous sphere. If a space craft tried to explore the planet, it would just pass straight through it.

The planet has around 30,000 kilometer thick layer of gaseous hydrogen which slowly gives way to metallic hydrogen, just like Jupiter. Even though the mass of Saturn is 95 times more than earth it is still a 'light' planet as it is less dense than water. If there was a sea large enough in the universe Saturn would just float on it! As known to man Saturn has some 30 known satellites and surely there are more left to be discovered.

Saturn's inside is burning hot and it emits more energy into the atmosphere than it gets from the Sun. This extra energy is produced by the Kelvin-Helmholtz mechanism, the same as in Jupiter. Never the less this does not explain the brightness of the planet completely ; there are some other system which may be the reason for it.

There was very little known about the planet before Voyager explorations in 1980-81. It looks as through Saturn is flattened at the poles, because of its fast rotation on its axis. The day on Saturn will be just around 10 hours, 39 minutes long but it takes around 29.5 Earth years to revolve around the Sun. The atmosphere of Saturn consists of 88percent hydrogen, 10 percent helium and remaining 2 percent of other gases like methane, ammonia etc.

Astronomers have noticed that every 30 years or so a massive storm lets itself loose on the planet, which spreads fast and furious, where the wind speed can reach up to 1,800 kilometers per hour. This phenomenon is only seen on this planet in our entire solar system and it happens in a period which corresponds to the middle of summer on Saturn. The reason is not clear yet but could be due to some seasonal factors. Other than this the atmosphere of Saturn is pretty calm.

The ring system on the planet Saturn makes it one of the most stunning objects in our solar system. They are divided into many different parts which have the A and B rings which are bright and a duller C ring. There are ring system has a variety of gaps and the main rings, as investigations show, are made of a great number of slender ringlets.

It is difficult to understand the origin of the rings. But it is believed that it may have been shaped by the larger moons which were crushed by the collision of comets and meteoroids. Scientists are not particularly sure of what these rings are made up of but they do show signs of having water. It is possible that they are made up of icebergs or snowballs.

You can see the planet Saturn very effortlessly in the night sky without a telescope. It is certainly not as bright as Jupiter but can be identified as planets don't twinkle!

The Sun And Its Solar Eclipse

The sun is the largest and the most prominent feature in the solar system. The sun constitutes about 90% of the entire mass of the solar system. The largest heat and light source for the solar system is the sun.

The temperature at the outer layer is 6000 centigrade and the interior part of the sun has a temperature of 15,000,000 centigrade. The inner part of the sun has high pressure and temperature that leads to nuclear fusion reactions that give the enormous amount of energy for the sun.

The sun can be defined as a huge sphere that contains ionized gas and it is responsible for the life on the Earth. All the planets in the solar system revolve in elliptical paths only because of the gravitational pull by the Sun. The sun is responsible for keeping all the planets in line. The gravitational power is so high that if you weigh 65 pounds here in the earth, you will weight about a ton in the sun.

The visible layer of the sun is called photosphere, which is bright yellow in color. With special telescopes, you can see the inner chromosphere and the corona layer of the sun. The chromosphere consists of hot gases and the corona is the outer layer that extends to the mercury planet.

The solar eclipse is a popular event associated with sun that can be seen from the earth. The solar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes through the shadow of the sun. A total eclipse occurs when there is a new moon and this lasts for a few minutes only. You should not see the sun with your normal eyes, as it will affect your retina.

Many dark spots can be found in the sun when viewed from a telescope. This is because of the magnetic regions on the surface of the sun. The spots will always appear in two sets, one set will have a positive magnetic field and the other set will have a negative magnetic field. The solar activity of the sun depends on the number of sunspots that are present in the sun.

The sun as you see from the earth is not small. It is very huge and it is 93 million miles away from the earth. When you want to reach the sun, it will take 176 years if you travel at 60 miles per hour.

It is not possible for anybody to reach the sun, as everything that approaches sun from a great distance will be burnt by the hot gases. The very high unimaginable temperature of the sun is keeping all the science and technology from approaching and studying the sun. For this reason, there are many mysteries associated with the sun.

Scientists say that the Sun has been in existence for 4.6 billion years and it can continue to exist for five billion years. During the end, the sun is expected to swell and become a very huge mass that can swallow the earth.

After about billion years, the sun that appears as a red giant now will turn to a white dwarf. It will take about trillion years for the dead sun to cool and finally it will look like a star.

The Moon And Its Influence On Daily Horoscopes

The giant impact theory says that initially the Earth did not contain the moon. At some point of time, a planet or a mass larger than Mars struck the Earth giving a great blow. As a result, the body mass and a piece of the earth vaporized. The resulting vaporized particles combined to form moonlets and it started orbiting the earth forming the moon.

The rocks in the moon were analyzed and the age of the moon is found to be 4.5 billion years, very close to the age of the earth. Moon is very near to earth at a distance of 384,000 km and weighs only one-eighth of the earth's mass. One side of the moon is permanently turned towards the earth.

The interesting fact about moon is the low gravitational pull. It is just one-sixth of the earth's gravitational pull. Moon orbits the earth by the gravitational power of the earth just as the earth orbits the sun by the gravitational power of the sun. When you weight 132 pounds on earth, you will weigh only 22 pounds on moon. The gravitational pull of the moon on earth causes the ocean tides here. It has a stronger influence on those parts of the earth that is closer to the moon and you can see two tides per day in the earth because of this effect.

Since the moon has no atmosphere, it is not livable. The surface of the moon is covered with a mixture of debris and fine dust called the regolith. Moon contains carters, basins and maria. The dark spots of the moon that are seen from the earth are made of basalt, which is a very dense material.

The first person to land on the moon is Mr. Neil Armstrong during the year 1969. Along with him, Edwin buzz also landed the moon. The U.S flag was deployed during their visit. As there is no wind and water in the moon, the footsteps laid by the astronauts will stay there for atleast 10 million years.

You can see different phases of the moon from the earth. Actually, the moon does not change its brightness. The different phases are seen because of the differences in the angles from which the bright part of the moon is visible for people on earth. Moon does not have its own light. It reflects the sun's light and hence the moon's phase is determined by the illumination of the sun. New moon can be seen when moon is in the same direction as the sun and full moon can be seen when the entire visible part of the moon is illuminated by the sun. The new moon and the full moon alternate in two weeks.

People say that the half moon is more beautiful than the full moon. However, moon is always an admiration for people on earth for the bright milk white color it emits during the dark night. More and more spacecrafts are being sent to moon to study about the characteristics of the moon.

As the technology is developing, moon tours will frequent in the future days. The moon is used today to work out peoples horoscopes. They can now receive free daily horoscopes and have them emailed to them daily.

The solar system consists of nine planets and the Venus planet is the second planet of the solar system. The Sun and the planet Mercury form the structure of the solar system and the solar system is 360 degree circular in shape.

The planet Venus is positioned the second from the Sun and it takes nearly 225 days for revolving around the Sun. Venus planet has a standard radius of 0.7 A.U and it spins retrospectively. One day on the planet Venus relates to 243 days on the planet Earth and there are no specific reasons for this particular rotation. The structure of the Venus is composed of two heavy masses and from this planet Moon cannot be viewed.

Ancient Greeks define the Venus as the brightest planet and compare them with feminine structures. The ancient people of Greek worship Venus as the goddess of affection and magnificence. The planet Venus is considered as the brightest planet after the Sun and the Moon. The body of the Venus is composed of two entities namely the Eosphorus as the first light stat and the Hesperus as the twilight star.

The internal formation of the Venus has solid iron core substances and is similar to the Earth. The magnetic turf in this planet is exceptionally low and that results in the low revolving rapidity. The radius of the Venus is measured as 5.2 g/cc and resembles the same of the Earth.

The planet Venus is always surrounded by a dense layer of clouds and it is difficult to view its appearance. Study of Venus can be made by penetrating wave rays with the help of radar satellites. The upper environment of the planet Venus is covered with soaring velocity winds.

Venus is defined as the sister planet of the Earth. These planet resemble in the size, density of clouds and the substances procured. These two planets have relatively similar chemical compositions and the caverns of the internal surface are remain soft.

The Venus planet is composed of carbon dioxide and the cavern of the planer is dense surrounded by clouds, made of sulfuric acid. The surface of the Venus is hotter than the Mercury, even though it is situated after twice the distance from the Sun.

When viewed with the help of a telescope, the internal structure of the Venus exhibits phases. Mariner 2 was the first spacecraft to visit the planet Venus during the year 1962. More than 20 visits have been made to the surface of the planet Venus.

Researches exhibit that the surface of the Venus is covered by lava flows and this planet is profound to the activity of volcanoes. Small caverns in the surface of the Venus burns because of the density in the atmosphere and the caverns comes in bunches with heavy meteoroids to remain safe in the surface.

Hence it is concluded that the planet Venus is the dazzling object in the atmosphere when compared to the Sun and the Moon. Venus is called as the daylight star as it rises in the east and twilight star as it sets down in the west. The rotation of the Venus is from the east to west. The planet Venus is surrounded with solid clouds and creates a hot greenhouse impact.

The only planet in our so far system which has not been visited by any space craft is Pluto. Even if trying to see through a very powerful telescope from the Earth, it remains a tiny spec in space. Astronomers have been able to see the planet with the very powerful Hubble Space Telescope.

Pluto is the farther planet from the Sun, but due to the odd behavior of its orbit, it gets nearer than Neptune for 20 odd years out of its 249 Earth year orbit. It is the second biggest known dwarf planet but the tenth largest orbiting the Sun. It was discovered in 1930 to the year 2006 it was thought to be the ninth planet in our solar system, but there have been some more discoveries after that.

International Astronomical Union named officially named the ninth planet Pluto in 1930 after the Roman god of the underworld. Pluto is the only and first planet to be discovered by an American, an astronomer called Clyde W. Tombaugh. Even though discovery of Pluto was made way back in 1930, there is inadequate information about this far off planet.

But even without close examination we are aware of the fact that it is a very cold planet or rather a frozen one whose surface is in most likelihood composed of crystallized nitrogen. It has a very tenuous atmosphere.

The pressure on Pluto is 100,000 than the sea level on our planet and consisting of mostly nitrogen with some traces of carbon monoxide and methane. The space craft New Horizons was initiated on January 16, 2006 and will make will be closest to Pluto around July 14, 2015. This will give more clarity on the characteristics of this odd dwarf planet.

Pluto and its satellites rotation period is 6.387 Earth days. Although it is not uncommon for a satellite to tour in a simultaneous orbit with its planet, but here Pluto rotates concurrently on the orbit of its satellite Charon. As a result Pluto and Charon all the time face each other traveling through the space. The atmosphere of Pluto changes according to its distance from the sun as Pluto's eccentric orbit fluctuates between 4000 and 7000 million kilometers.

Like Uranus but unlike most other planets, Pluto rotates with its poles roughly in its orbital plane. The rotation axis for Pluto is tipped at 122 degrees. At the time of discovery it s comparatively bright south polar was seen from the Earth , but Pluto seemed to become duller as the viewpoint slowly changed from near the pole-on in 1954 to almost the equator-on in 1973. At present we can see Pluto's equator from Earth.

Earth was aligned with the orbit of Charon along with Pluto from 1985 to 1990; this gave our astronomers a good chance to gather important data which led to the first precise calculation of Pluto and Charon size and other vital information.

At one time it was known as the smallest, coldest, and furthest known planet from the Sun, but Pluto has double characteristics, and has been surrounded by controversy since it was discovered in 1930. According to the new rules the planet did not meet the requirements of being a planet so on August 24, 2006, the International Astronomical Union officially downgraded Pluto from planet to a dwarf planet.

Neptune And The Solar System

Neptune is a blue planet like our own earth. Its inner two third is rocky and the outer one third is gaseous. The gases on Neptune are mainly hydrogen, helium and methane. From the outside it is, therefore, like Jupiter which is a gigantic gaseous ball. It is much smaller than Jupiter though and much further too.

It is, therefore, not visible to the naked eye and a telescope is required for the purpose. The mass of Neptune is only seven times that of Earth while its volume is 58 times that of Earth indicating its gaseous content. That is enough volume to accommodate sixty earths.

Neptune is so far from the sun that it receives very little sunlight. Naturally, it is a cold planet. But this gaseous mass is far from tranquil. The clouds in Neptune are highly turbulent. It is the windiest of all the planets and enjoys the reputation of having the most severe storms. While the storms on our planet earth are known to reach maximum speed of 300 to 400 kilometers per hour, in Neptune, storms with wind speed up to 2200 kilometers per hour have been recorded.

Much of the information we have about Neptune has come from Voyager2. This space probe made observation of an enormous dark spot, similar to the Great Red Spot of Jupiter. The size of the spot is so large that earth will fit into it. This spot is a gigantic anticyclone which circles the planet in 18 hours. Another smaller spot was also observed sweeping around Neptune in slightly lesser time.

An interesting fact about Neptune is that it was not discovered through observation as in the case of other planets. It was discovered after its existence was predicted through mathematical calculations. As early as 1613, Galileo observed Neptune through his telescope but concluded it was a star.

In 1845 Le Verrier started examining the irregularities in the orbit of Uranus and concluded that this must be due to the gravitational force of a nearby planet. Based on this hypothesis, Johann Galle of Berlin Observatory started looking for this nearly invisible planet and eventually found it in 1846 very close to its predicted position. It was a classic case of theoretical prediction in science borne out through experimental observation.

Neptune has thirteen satellites of which the largest one is called Triton. It is a sphere covered in ice which is falling towards Neptune. Five of these satellites were discovered only recently. Neptune also has rings which were observed in detail by Voyager. From the Earth the rings look very faint. These rings are not homogeneous and contain clumps of matter.

Neptune rotates around its axis in about 16 hours. Being very far from the Sun, it takes 165 Earth years to revolve around it. It has a highly tilted magnetic field. The tilt is thought to be account of flows inside the middle layers of Neptune, possibly water. If that is true, it will justify its name which is taken from the Roman God of the Sea.

You may have heard of Moon signs, which like Sun signs and star signs are all parts of astrology and determining someone's personality and future by examining celestial bodies. A star sign, sometimes called a sun sign, is the position of the sun viewed from Earth in respect to one of the 12 zodiac signs. Your sun sign is the position of the Sun within one of these zodiac constellations at the time of your birth. Sun signs are the most common way to determine your horoscope.

The Moon, like the Sun, travels through all the Zodiac signs. However, the Moon travels through the zodiac constellations at a much faster rate, within its 28 day cycle. The affects of the Moon on your Zodiac are much shorter lived than that of the planets or the sun, both of which take much longer to travel through the twelve zodiac constellations.

When the Moon enters a certain a certain zodiac constellation, the individual traits of that sign will be reflected in the Moon's color. If you are curious to what your Moon sign is, the only person that can tell you is an astrologer, as a horoscope and moon sign can only be determined personally. An astrologer will also be able to tell you what your Moon sign means.

The Moon represents the more personal and hidden side of our feelings and emotions. These may be the emotions that we keep hidden from others, but on the inside, we are greatly affected by these feelings. The Sun casts light over the day, making everything clear and visible. However, the moon casts a different type of light, making everything more mysterious and strange. Therefore, the Moon reveals the deeper aspects of our lives.

For many people, astrology is all about their star sings, however, there is so much more to it, especially moon signs. Moon signs play an important part in creating your birth chart, and you will begin to see that the Moon and the Zodiac constellations each influence your feelings and traits differently. If you are lucky enough to have a complete horoscope, you will know that astrologers take into account your Mars sign, Pluto sign, Neptune sign, Venus sign, etc, as well as signs of other celestial bodies, including that of Lilith, the metaphysical second moon of Earth.

The Moon reveals a whole new side to your character. One that is more impressionist and reveals our hidden emotions and feelings that we may not be comfortable sharing with those around us. Your moon sign will make way for a much more complex and in depth level of astrology that centers around you and your character.

To determine your moon sign, you will need to consult an astrologer who is able to compile a complete birth chart for you. Once the position of the moon is determined on your chart, the astrologer can help you understand and interpret its meaning, enabling you to draw conclusions about your true personality and character.

Horoscopes come from the study of astrology. Astrology is the study of the stars and planets. Astrology as has been in practice for thousands of years. In china the season are not that much different from one another like they are in the United States. Farmers in America know to plant crops in the spring, but in China they use the position of constellations to determine the best time to plant new crops.

The Ancient Greeks were among the first to study the stars and sun and planets to use this study in every day life. In the years to follow many other cultures began to use astrology to determine what future events might happen in one's life. Astrology was once used to determine the out come of all major events including wars. This was around 3000 BC when the practice first began.

During the following years many different cultures also began to practice or use Astrology in the decisions that were where made for their planting season. Astrology survived for long time and around the year 500 BC Plato a philosopher studied astrology further and kept the study alive through time.

Though it took a down fall when an astronomer by the name of Galileo Galilei was the first to use a telescope in the early 1500's. This disproved a lot of what many people had believed over the years, but the practice was still used. He agreed with the Copernican Theory that dealt with the movements of the planets.

For many years the study of astrology was put to the side as the Christian Church became the predominant belief system. Astrology was considered to follow along with the beliefs of the early church so very few people explored astrology at this time. The astronomer William Lily renamed the study as Christian Astrology to avoid the wrath of the church during the 1600's. A fellow astronomer followed in the same foot steps in the 1800's who had a large fan base. His name was Alan Leo.

Paul Clancy followed after Alan Leo around the same time period. Clancy published his own magazine called American Astrology. This is how horoscopes and astrology became popular. Magazines are not the only place to read your horoscope today. Astrology has become extremely popular that you can find a horoscope in the daily newspaper, email, and even your cell phone. Astrology has survived for thousand of years and is still going strong into the future.

A person's horoscope, or birth chart as it is also called, is determined by what month and day you were born. The year is made up of twelve different parts which make up what is called the zodiac. These parts or sections are divided into signs.

The zodiac is directly related to twelve different constellations. Depending on when you were born your sign can be one of the following twelve signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libran, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Using your birth month and birth day will let you know which sign you belong.

Does The Lilith Exist As the Second Moon

Many astrologers only use the ten astrological planets. The astrological planets include the Sun, the Moon, and Pluto, but exclude Earth as a planet. However, some astrologers use additional objects, most commonly Lilith, the second moon of Earth. Though the existence of Lilith is yet to be confirmed, many astrologers believe that Lilith is a hypothetical or metaphysical object, rather than a reality.

For most astrologers, the inclusion of Lilith in their calculations, as well as finding its position on your birth chart, is very important. Finding Lilith's position in your birth chart helps a person to better understand their dark side and will uncover unhealthy behavior as well as self defeating patterns and routines. This is referred to as the sensitive point.

Lilith's existence is used to represent the dark or shadow side of your personality; a side of you that you may not show, yet it is still there. This usually relates to your memory of bad experiences. Many astrologists believe that acknowledging Lilith's existence will lead to self-transformation and liberation.

It's position on a man's and a woman's birth chart has two different meanings. On a woman's star chart, Lilith acts as the part life the woman has a strong or dominating role in. Lilith's presence is very apparent and prevailing in charts of influential, imaginative women, primarily those who are successful yet vulnerable and sensitive.

For many women with a strong evidence of Lilith in their chart, they may have unconventional relationships. In the chart of men, Lilith makes known the type of woman he fears, as well as the type that can drive him over the edge, in most cases to despair. The perfect position for Lilith in a man's chart has an effect that attracts strong and beautiful women to him.

Lilith is also believed to play a major role in the relationships that you encounter, especially if the relationship is an intense one. If Lilith is in the midst of transit in the love section of your chart when you first begin a relationship, that relationship will most likely become obsessive, intense, and painful for you. You may also feel remorse and unhappiness when Lilith enters new sections of your chart.

Like I already said, the existence of Lilith is still uncertain, and therefore a single point has not been defined. Astronomers may use the asteroid 1811 Lilith as well as the apogee of the moon. The apogee of the moon is the point furthest away from the moon on its orbit, and would therefore be the point totally opposite the moon.

Because of this, Lilith is sometimes referred to as the dark moon, as it is the opposite of the white moon that we see. Similarly, some astrologers use the apogee of the Earth as Lilith. In this case, Lilith is on the other side of the Sun, and can never be seen from Earth. The revolution time is approximately ten years and four months. It follows the path of the Zodiac at 40 degrees.
