Do you feel over weight? Are you lacking some energy? Would you like to improve your life and start making things happen? Are you tired of feeling blah? We have all felt like that at one time or another. What can you do to fix it? Is it hopeless? Is it out of your reach to fix this feeling?

You can do something about it. All you have to do is coach yourself into shape. You can coach yourself into health. You may be wondering how you do something like this. I am going to show you.

Step 1. You must find out what it is you want to accomplish. Is it that you want to lose weight? Is it that you want to gain muscle? Do you want to start exercising? Would you like to eat right? Would you feel better if you started taking supplements or vitamins?

You must identify what the goal is that you want to achieve. Identify the goal and write it down in a notebook. This notebook is going to be your journal and what holds you true to your word. Write that goal down with conviction. Write it down as if it has already occurred. "I am running 5 miles a day by December 1st." "I have lost 10 lbs by January 5th." When you write this down in a notebook you can revisit this and see your accomplishment.

Step 2. Figure out a short goal that you can do this week that will move toward your Step 1 goal. Keep in mind that this in an interim goal and must be able to be accomplished in a week. It should not be difficult to do but is more than you have been doing. An example would be "I will run 1 mile twice this week." This might be too big of an accomplishment to be done in a week. This might be too small of an accomplishment in a week. You know your body. You know your schedule and what you can do. Write this short term goal down and get it done. Hold yourself accountable. Writing it down in your journal will help you accomplish your goal.

You can't cheat yourself this way. You will know, after writing it down, what you said and when you said it. You will not be able to lie to yourself. Hold true and feel the accomplishment of that small goal.

Step 3. Continue step 2 until you have reached your final goal. Hold yourself accountable each and every week using your journal to do what it takes to get healthy and meet your goals. You can use this technique in health training, business, or anything in life. Keep up the good work and hold yourself accountable.

Writing these things down helps solidify your goal in your mind. You will know when you don't accomplish what you said you would and when you have. You will be able to feel that confidence and sense of accomplishment when you complete your goals.

I learned this technique in training in the corporate world. You can utilize many things in the corporate world in health and fitness. If you are driven to eat more nutritious you could set the goal to take a multi vitamin as a supplement each and everyday.

You know what you need to get down and how to do it. You have all of the tools already within you. All that is needed is something to pull it out of you and something to hold you accountable. Get that journal and start holding yourself accountable to yourself. Anytime you have problems with this you could find a friend or family member who will help to hold you accountable. Do it today. Get fit and healthy.

Always consult a physician prior to starting a fitness regimen or supplementation program.

Have you ever found yourself with so much weight on your shoulders you wish you could just walk outside and scream? Have you been in a situation where the boss is after you, the kids have been yelling and screaming non stop all day, and your spouse comes home in a bad mood and takes it out on you too? You have so much stress you don't know what to do. Do you need to talk to someone, take pills, get put in the mental hospital?

No you don't have to do any of those things. First, you can start by letting go in your mind. Our days and direction all start in our mind when we wake up in the morning. We dread going to work, we let the kids continue to scream; we let our spouse affect us even when it isn't our fault. Train your mind to control your thoughts out of the gate and you will begin to notice your day is more pleasant. Your stresses may not be so large. You may begin to become more creative in the process. Wouldn't that be much nicer than stressing? Of course it would.

Second, you could change the situation when it arrives. Analyze the situation to find the good that could come from it. What is your boss trying to say by venting his or her frustration on you? Think about what can be obtained from a positive point and you might just put a good foot forward. What happened to your spouse that day that you could help him or her release and reevaluate the situation for the better purposes? What have your children been doing all day? They might be cooped up and require the release of all the energy young children have. They might be trying to tell you something in their own way. Start analyzing the situation from different angles and try to find a positive way out that will help everyone.

Once you have come this far in your quest for the stress free zone, stay that way. So, the third step you can do is to exercise. Get moving. There has been evidence and documents listed that exercise, even just walking down the street, reduces stress and clears the head. Not only will it reduce your stress it will keep you fit, lose weight, and feel good. Don't you want to feel good? Of course you do. Get stress free, start today. Maybe you could even take the kids for a walk down the street to help them get rid of some of that energy.

Once you have completed the above three steps you can move to step four, do the above three steps over and over again until your brain has changed into new habits. Start looking at the positives, clear your mind, exercise, analyze and overcome the situations. When you think about all of the ways to solve problems and stressful situations you truly open your mind to possibilities that may not have existed before. This is the power of our minds and our bodies.

Control your own mind and you will find you can deal with the stresses of life much more easily. Turn your stress into solvable challenges that have many different solutions that all you have to do is pick one. Again, your mind is very powerful so use it first.

Staying healthy and stress free also requires you to get the proper nutrients and minerals your body needs to function healthily. Think about supplementing your meals with multi vitamins or natural herbal supplements that assist your body in mind and health. Become well balanced in every aspect of your life and you will see great results.

Medication for stress is a possible answer if it is needed. You should always consult a physician for assurance and proper counseling. Medicine may help but there are alternatives to prescription drugs. St. John"s wort (Hypericum perforatum) is an example of a natural herbal supplement that is known to reduce the symptoms of stress on the body and has been used to treat mental disorders and depression. Check with a doctor to verify that this could help you. Everyone is different in bodily makeup.

There are many options available for everyone out there to get a handle on stress in their lives. You can start by using your brain and controlling how you approach your environment. The options to go with natural herbal supplements are available as well as seeing professionals to find out the root cause of your stressors and issues.

You should always contact a physician before starting any exercise or supplementation plan.

Get Off Your Butt Today

It is time to get off of your butt. I am tired of hearing the excuses for not working out. Stop thinking of it as a chore. Start to think of just moving. What can you do now to start making Healthy Decisions in your life, right now?

All you have to do is start analyzing your day and figuring out what you can do to burn a few more calories or increase your heart rate. "I don't have time". No, that is unacceptable. You do have time. You just have to identify where the time is and use it!

Do you live near work? Start riding a bike to work. Start walking to work. Get up in the morning and walk around your neighborhood before work. When you get home you can do the same things. Just get up and do it. You need to. If you want to live a long healthy life you have to start doing something even if it is small. Start small and work your way up.

What else can you do? Does your work have steps? How many floors does it have? Walk them in the morning, walk them after lunch, and walk them when you leave. If you have to leave your floor to go to the drink machine or lunch room, take the stairs. Forget that crummy elevator. You will have more energy.

At lunch you could go outside for 15 minutes and walk around the building or down the block. "Oh! It is cold during the winter." you might say. Well, walk inside the building. Find a mall nearby and walk the mall for 15 to 30 minutes at lunch everyday. We have to make the time to increase our movements. You will feel good when you are your healthiest, start today! Don't wait. We procrastinate enough in life, now just procrastinate your procrastination.

What other options do you have that could allow you to get more exercise in your day? You could go golf on the weekend with some friends. Not only will you have a nice time with friends outside and unwinding you will get some physical activity out of the deal. How about try hiking in the woods, walking at the park with your spouse, friends, or by yourself.

You could get out and mow your lawn with a push mower. Any one of these will be some form of moving. We shouldn't become sedentary because when we do we lose what we have. It is like anything in life if you don't work on what you have you will lose it. You will lose muscle mass, you will lose your stamina; you will lose your vitality.

You have to get out and work on your health. We are living, breathing, people. Get up and show that you are alive. Feel alive. Dot it today, start now.

Now let's be realistic. Will you lose your way occasionally? Of course you might. We all do on occasion. What must be done is that we recognize we have lost our way and start over as soon as possible. If you go on a vacation, keep doing what you are doing if you can, if not make sure you get back to your routine when you return. Think of the implications just 30 minutes more exercise every day.

We would have better health. We might fend off sickness easier. We will be less stressed. We will live longer. It is very possible that if enough people started and got off their butt we could lower our health care costs. "How can that happen?" you might ask.

Well, if we are feeling better, getting sick less, and living longer, we are going to the doctor less, going to the hospital less and living longer healthier lives. This in turn utilizes less insurance and health care costs ultimately reducing the cost of insurance and our reliance on prescription drugs.

We can lead healthier lives just by doing little things. Lets all get started today. I commit I will do it with you. We can accomplish this in mass.

Always consult a physician before starting a workout regimen, supplementation plan, or diet.

Do you want to lower your triglycerides? I know I do, you want to help your heart, and I know you do. Would you like to lower your blood pressure as well? Of course, who wouldn't? So many people talk about it. So many people don't take action. You can't think about it for ever, you have to get up and do something about your health. Don't die of a heart attack, die of old age. Stay fit and healthy longer.

The best method to accomplish this is through proper diet and exercise. I am sure you have read this or heard this before, but it is true. One of the first places to start is exercise and diet. Some ways to achieve this may be for you to reduce the amount of sweets that you eat, decrease or stop the amount of alcohol that you drink, and even maintain a normal weight that is right for you. Start eating healthier foods. Try a serving of fish, some vegetables, and a glass of water. Eat these things in place of a burger, fries, and a soft drink. This starts with you. In order to be healthy you have to take action, now.

You could also supplement these activities with Omega-3 Fatty Acids. There has been evidence proving this supplement reduces triglyceride levels in some people. Doses of 2 - 4 grams per day has shown to assist with lowering triglycerides and lowering blood pressure. They have been shown through certain clinical studies to reduce cardiovascular events such as death. Double dip for health!

The American Heart Association even recommends people take anywhere from 1 - 4 grams of Omega-3 Fatty Acids depending on your health. You can check them out at their website for more information specific to their recommendations.

The American Heart Association has plenty of information available about this subject. They list clinical studies and other sources of information that can be used to assist you with Omega-3 supplementation.

The best way for you to get your doses of Omega-3 Fatty Acids is through your diet, but if you can't achieve this you should find a reputable supplement. There are many different brands and research on the net for you to choose from. Find the best for you and supplement if you can't get your daily doses from the food you eat.

Start your healthy lifestyle today.

Always consult a physician before starting a supplementation plan.

Green Tea Alert

Would you like to feel more alert? At work, I do. Would you like to see an increase in your metabolism? I do all the time. How would you like to lose a little weight? I know I do. Do you have arthritis that you would like to get rid of? Green Tea may be the answer to some of these ailments.

Green Tea dates back over 5000 years in China. It has been used in China, Japan, and other regions of the world through the course of time. It has been used in ceremonies and customs in different areas of the world. It has caught on in the U.S. for many different reasons too.

There has been talk and information all over the internet and in books that indicate green tea has different health related properties that may be useful to many of us. Many of these properties have been known to come from the ingredient epigallocatechin gallate which is an antioxidant. Some say it is used to reduce arthritis, increase air flow to the lungs for asthma, increases alertness, and may reduce chances of getting specific types of cancer. Many have even indicated that it increases the metabolism. This is very interesting to me. I know I like to hear about the positive attributes of natural substances like Green Tea. They are cheaper than prescription drugs and in many cases seem to be safer.

There are many sources on Green Tea that can be found on the internet, medical journals, and remedy books. One thing many have in common is that Green Tea is a natural supplement that may provide health benefits.

Green Tea contains about 50 milligrams of caffeine per cup. This depends on how strong you brew your tea and how large your cup is. This is less caffeine than a cup of coffee, but none the less, it does contain caffeine. The caffeine, I would venture to say, is the reason we may see increases in alertness and possibly an increase in metabolism causing some weight loss. Caffeine will do that to people. There is nothing wrong with those effects as long as you don't have any other that may cause problems when you drink Green Tea.

Please keep in mind that there are drawbacks to Green Tea. Pregnant women shouldn't take green tea because of the caffeine and related problems with the fetus which is indicated in some medical journals. People who are sensitive to caffeine should also be careful.

Green Tea may prove to be an important herbal supplement over time as more studies are done and proven in the medical community. If you don't have any problems with it and you enjoy drinking tea, do so, you may gain other benefits.

Always check with a physician prior to starting a supplementation program.

Get Off Your Butt Part 2

Last article we talked about getting off of your butt. Did you? I know I started. C'mon we can all do it. You may have been wondering why everything was revolving around normal activities and nothing specialized. Well, most people just don't see where they can allocate time from there hectic schedules to exercise.

What's important is that we do something; our muscles need some sort of resistance training. The more resistance training the more our bodies stays healthy and firm, but it must become a part of our routine. "Here we go again" you may be thinking. When are we going to be able to add resistance training to our daily lives?

Let me be the first to tell you, your mindset has to change in order for your body to accept this. You must believe that you are going to start doing it. You then must act on doing it. Doing what?

Wake up 30 minutes early in the morning, stretch, and do some pushups and sit-ups to start your day. Do 4 sets of as many pushups and sit-ups you can do in that 30 minute span of time. Now that you are engaged in your routine think about how energized and stimulating your day will be. I know, I know, 30 minutes, it seems like an hour earlier than usual. But its not! It is 30 minutes!

If you can't do it when you first wake up do it in the evening before you have that evening snack, you know the one you shouldn't be eating any way. Better yet do it while you are sitting motionless on the couch watching your favorite episode of the O.C. This goes for both men and women some sort of resistance training is better than none. We can all do this. It is easy.

Once you get 4 sets of as many pushups and sit-ups down pack, add something else to that 30 minute routine. You will start feeling so good, that you will become angry if you miss your morning or evening routine.

Look everyone, this is about taking control of your own health. This is about doing things to better yourself and increase your life span as well how you live it. Oh, I just thought of something else you can do around the house for resistance training.

Grab a water bottle or a milk jug do bicep curls with it. If it is too heavy at first, use a half gallon jug or a 2 quart bottle. Grab a large can vegetable and start curling. You can add any of these to your routine. You can even do shoulder presses with the same items. Ok, it isn't the Gym, but we already identified that you don't have enough time to join the gym otherwise you would be doing these with the proper equipment at the gym. Do you have enough time to join and use a gym? If so, do it. If not, these are ways you can increase your daily activity and resistance training.

Again, these are to help you get off your butt and begin doing something that is going to help you out. All of these will help your stamina, change the way you look and feel, and give you more energy. Just get started doing something.

Don't make this exercise. Make it a way of life.

Always check with a physician prior to starting an exercise regimen, supplementation plan, or diet.

What is it that keeps you going through the hot summer months? What is it that allows you to stay out and about for all hours of the day? What can you do to keep yourself out of harms way during these very balmy days and nights of summer?

Water is one of the most needed components of nutrition. You really need to pay attention to your water intake during the summer months. I know how it is. You get playing at the beach, or going out for drinks, and you forget to drink water through out the day. Next thing you know you are feeling dehydrated, have a headache, or just feel a little on the down side.

Everyone needs water. It is critical. We take water in many forms. We get it through our foods, different drinks, and directly from a bottle or glass. We all know it is important and needed for life, but we forget sometimes to take in enough of it.

Depending on how active you are will depend on how much water you should supplement into your day. Keep in mind that if you are very active, sweating, and possibly exercising, you should keep yourself hydrated by drinking several glasses of water per hour through the day. The more you lose through sweat and activity the better chance you have at becoming dehydrated. We don't want that to happen.

The best way to stay hydrated is to keep a bottle of water with you where ever you may be going. Keep a bottle in the car. Keep a bottle at work. Take a bottle with you to the beach or the gym. Drink it during the day and more than likely you will stave off dehydration and sometimes feelings of hunger.

What does dehydration feel like? You have to recognize it. Some of the things you can look for are a mild to strong thirst, dry mouth, maybe a headache. You could feel things like tiredness and even dizziness. If you feel these things you may want to start by drinking a glass or two of water. They may help. Of course if these things persist, you also might want to check with a doctor.

Water is good for you. It keeps you hydrated, feeling fresh, and helps prevent certain ailments. Water is abundant and usually pretty easy to come by. Keep it close to you in your travels and daily activities. You may feel better drinking a little more water during the day. Good health to you this summer and always.

Always check with a physician before starting a supplementation or diet plan.

Try to Remember

Obtain the memory that you have always wanted.

Many people have issues with their memory. Some can't remember where they placed their car keys or where they have placed an important paper. I know I have had trouble just remembering what I ate this morning for breakfast. You are not alone. If you are reading this, you probably have experienced similar memory issues at some time in your life.

Let's be real, there are no miracle cures for a perfect memory. There are no special formulas that grant you instant memory. Your memory is like anything else on your body, you have to train it and give it the right nutrients to help it along. You have to nurture it and provide it exactly what it needs to run efficiently. Your brain and your memory are important and should be taken care of.

You have to keep your mind active. Practice remembering lists and phone numbers. Do the puzzles in the daily newspaper. Look at license plates on your way to work and recite the numbers in order. See how many you can remember. Try using a new system such as pegging or associations to assist in your memory trainings. There is a wealth of knowledge on the internet about memory systems. Everyone is different in how they remember and what they do to train their brain. Some may work for you if you give them a try but you have to try a few out and get some results.

Nutritionally you should eat right and stay away from the bad foods you always hear so much about. Stay away from French fries and fatty foods. Keep your meals healthy with fruits and vegetables. You should do that regardless for good health and well being. This will help improve your memory and your regular body functions. Shoot, you might get a little healthier in the process.

There are supplements available that have been touted to assist in obtaining a better memory. One supplement is Ginkgo Biloba. It has been shown through research and studies that Ginkgo has been proven to be more effective for memory than not using anything at all. Every little bit helps is my philosophy.

According to the University of Maryland, Ginkgo has been used in Europe for treating people with dementia. It has shown to increase blood flow to the brain and to have antioxidant type properties. The studies have shown promising results.

You can improve your memory by building a healthier lifestyle and doing a little research on what is out there that can help you achieve your goals for memory. Books for memory, techniques, and natural herbs are out there for you to learn about so that you can help yourself to stop forgetting. I wish you luck on your journey to the perfect memory.

Always check with a physician before taking supplements.

Get Sharp Today With Ginseng

Have you ever just not felt very sharp? Have you been in a situation where you couldn't concentrate on the task at hand? Have you been at work and your mind just continues to wander? I have had plenty of times like that. You may be wondering what could be done to help this fuzzy feeling you get from time to time. Let's cover a few things that may help.

Increase your mental performance through a little supplementation. Increase your reaction time, your learning, and even your logic skills through a few simple tasks. You can help yourself easily by a handful of daily activities:

1. Eat better.
Start by eating the way you should. Eating better is by far the most important thing you can do to head in a healthy direction you are pursuing. How much you eat and what you eat can always affect the way you feel. Think about a time when you may have eaten a large candy bar that was full of sugar. Once the sugar rush wore off you were down and out. You were in that fuzzy feeling state. This isn't good to do all the time especially when we need to concentrate for long periods of time. Instead of eating that candy bar, try some almonds or cashews. Instead of eating French fries, try some green beans. Try eating a bowl of soup rather than a box of chicken nuggets. You could pack your lunch every morning with healthy fruits and vegetables before you go to work. This might help keep you on track of eating healthy. Shoot, you might save some money in the process.

2. Exercise
Increase your exercise. Don't be a couch potato. Get your blood flowing. Go for a brisk walk or a light jog. Do some pushups or sit-ups when you wake up in the morning. It has been proven that exercise reduces stress. It might clear your mind and even get you in better shape, who knows. I have found that exercise in the morning energizes the rest of my day. It gets me going, it allows me to mentally plan my day, and I am more effective and efficient the rest of the day. Wouldn't it be nice if you could increase your mental performance just by getting rid of that cloud of stress you might be carrying? You can. Grab a buddy and start exercising today.

3. Supplementation
Evidence shows that Ginseng can increase your mental performance when taken in doses of 200 - 400 milligrams a day. Ginseng has been used for over 2000 years by emperors and commoners. Many people have used it for reducing stress, strengthening the metabolism, and increasing vitality. People have had success with it by taking it in pill form or making tea from the dried root. There are many ways you can try Ginseng, it may get you out of the funk.

Ginseng has also been identified as a supplement that helps reduce blood sugar levels for people with type 2 diabetes and has been used to increase stamina, help the body protect against infections, and increase circulation. These uses all culminate to reducing stress and assisting the crystal clear thought we all desire.

There are many natural herbs that are grown and are used for health purposes. Check some of these out and see what you can use as a supplement with your diet.

Always consult your doctor before starting a supplementation program.

Start to plan your health goals today. You can feel better, you can look better, and you might be around longer.

When you are setting weight loss goals, exercise usually has to be part of that plan. If you are anything like me, exercise is not something you view as fun. The nice thing is that it doesn't have to be all that boring.

You should realize the right state of mind is important when you are seeking weight loss goals. Prepare yourself mentally. Then do it. Here is an exercise regimen that could help anyone lose some weight, it helped me too.

The first couple of weeks are very important. You don't want to over extend yourself to the point that you are sore and you don't want to exercise anymore. You should find that right area. Start doing your cardio for 20 - 30 minutes a day. Do this for the first three weeks or so. Once you have been through the first three weeks you should be able to increase your time to 40 - 50 minutes a day.

You are probably wondering where the excitement might come from. You are probably wondering what is going to keep this program from getting boring. Let's face it; the change in scenery will come from changing your cardio type and finding exciting places to do it. Try jogging for a couple of weeks and then try swimming for the next couple. You could then change it up to some type of sprint routine or a brisk bike ride in the evening.

There are plenty of things you can do to help with the boredom that sometimes comes with exercise. You could find a lake to jog around or even a mountain trail to hike if you live near the mountains. What if you try walking around the mall or you could bike ride to work if you are close enough. Get out to the park or find a local high school track to run on. Get a partner that will keep you motivated. I have used many of these to keep me going in my program. They definitely help. As you can see there are many things to keep your cardio program alive as long as you are willing to find it.

The idea is to mix it up. By mixing your cardio routine up a bit, it will decrease the boredom that you may face with exercise. Finding a partner to motivate you and for you to keep motivated helps you maintain reliability. You now have to think of someone else. Use these tools. Use them and get fit. Enjoy your path to good health.

Always consult a physician before starting an exercise regimen.
