Finding the Perfect Place to Stay on Your Next Colorado Ski Trip
The slopes of Colorado provide some of the best skiing in all of the United States. With fresh snow falls nearly every day, the powder is the reason people flock to Colorado during skiing season. The Rocky Mountains are the backdrop and your skiing adventure awaits.
Choosing Colorado ski lodging can be the first step in booking your ski vacation. For the avid skier, the choice of lodging needs to provide all the luxuries of great snow peaks, without all of the amenities and extras. Skiing is an art, a desire and a passion and the avid skier is one that needs more snow and less frills.
The Private Rental
When all you want to do is find Colorado ski lodging for a place to sleep, the private rental can be the best choice. These private rentals will often come in rental houses, rental condos and rental apartments. When renting a private residence for your skiing adventure, you will need to make sure to research the local skiing areas and the public ski slopes available for locals in the area.
The private rental offers the skier a chance to stay for a small amount of time or a longer amount of time. Most often rental homes, apartments and condos can be rented on either a weekly or monthly basis. If you need a longer rental, make sure to ask about a special rate for securing the rental on a consistent basis.
The Difference Between Private and Resort Colorado Ski Lodging
While the privacy associated with a private rental may seem appealing, the traveler will need to make sure to pack all the skiing gear for the trip. A resort will often rent out or offer free skis, boots, jackets and other ski equipment. With a private rental these are not included.
Resorts also offer the use of slopes as part of the vacation package. If a private rental is used, the skier may have to pay slope fees if there are no local spots to ski free of charge.
Saving Money and Time
All-in-all the choice of a private rental can mean saving a lot of money. As with any Colorado ski lodging of the resort style, the food, equipment and rentals will all be overpriced. The private rental allows the skier the opportunity to find local food and equipment shops thus saving a bit of money on the amenities they may not use on a daily basis.
