Transform Your Rooms With Oriental Rugs
Oriental rugs have long been seen as more than just as a way to cover floors; they also have great value as a work of art. An Oriental rug can completely transform a room and give it a personality of all its own. But there are probably some things that you do not know about these rugs; specifically, how they are made within a particular region. These rugs can tell an interesting tale that only adds to their charm.
For the most part, it is possible to tell where the different Oriental rugs originated from by looking at the different designs that are on them. If the custom carpets that you are looking at are host to floral designs, then they most likely came from India or Persia.
If they carry more of a geometric design, then they were probably made by people of Caucasian or Turkoman decent. The rugs that are made in China are known for there patterns, which include monsters, exotic birds or dragons. While all of these beautiful custom carpets carry the same purpose, their uniqueness is what people love and are drawn to.
One would think that to make such an exotic Oriental rug, you would need to have an expensive elaborate loom, yet this is not the case. These fabulous custom carpets can be made with the simplest and most basic of looms. The looms that are used to make these rugs can be either vertical or horizontal.
There are three types of vertical looms; the tabriz loom, the loom with rollers and the village loom. The simplest of these looms is the village loom and it carries an upper and lower beam, from which to weave the fabric.
No matter which type of loom is used, they all have one simple mechanism in common. This mechanism lets the weaver divide up the wrap thread into sets of two so they can be turned around or reversed after they are placed through the weft.
The weft is the matter of yarn which the weaver draws under and over warp yarns to make the fabric. While there are different ways to make these beautiful custom carpets, most all of them employ the loom.
The process of making Oriental rugs is not exactly an easy one, but what form of art is truly easy? These beautiful rugs that we use to cover our floors are truly works of art and should be appreciated as such. If you are thinking of purchasing one of these beautiful area rugs, then consider it a work of art and not just a way to cover your flooring.
