Mold Remediation

Your home is the place where you retreat for comfort, relaxation, and safety. But when mold moves in with you, your place of safety can, depending on levels of exposure and individual immune response, become hazardous to your health. Common mold exposure symptoms include runny nose, coughing, shortness of breath, headaches, recurring colds, eye irritation, dizziness, nausea, and asthma. Therefore, steps should be taken to contain and remove a mold problem as soon as it is discovered. The first step to take in combating mold in your home is to find and correct the source of moisture that is causing mold to grow in the first place. Without moisture, mold can't grow; however, when an area becomes damp, mold can take hold in as little as 48 hours. An effective mold remediation plan must involve drying out the area and ensuring that the water problem has been remedied. If you don't fix the water problem, you can count on recurring issues with mold. Once you've identified the source of the water, dried out the area, and fixed the source of moisture, you can focus on removal of the existing mold. The area which is being remediated should be blocked off from the rest of the building with plastic sheets to mold spores which will be disturbed during the remediation process. If mold has affected drywall, carpeting or other building materials, those materials should be removed and replaced. Any personal items such as books or clothing that have mold growing in them should be discarded. Inactive mold can still be a health hazard, so it's important to carefully remove all sign of fungal growth and clean all surfaces where mold is visible once the remediation process is complete. The next step in the mold removal process is to test the environment for elevated levels of mold spores. If your home receives a clean bill of health, you can begin the process of replacing any drywall, wood, or carpeting that had to be removed due to mold contamination. Although you may be tempted to skip this step, it's an important part of the process in order to ensure that you haven't missed any part of the infestation. Remember never to paint over mold as this will not fix the problem; rather, remove all surface mold and then apply a fungicide. If you don't feel able to effectively treat your home for mold yourself, look into hiring a professional mold remediation company. In fact it is strongly recommended that when dealing with areas of mold growth of more than 10 square feet, that a professional be brought in. Mold removal is a process that can't be skimped on, so be sure you understand exactly what the company will and won't do before you sign the deal. Your home and the health of your family are at stake. While mold is naturally everywhere in the environment, both indoors and outdoors, and it's impossible to remove every mold spore from the air in your home, you can and should make sure they don't find a friendly place to grow in your home.

As a commercial property manager, you know the importance of protecting your assets. You have a security system and have taken precautions to prevent break-ins and theft. But what about loss due to natural disaster? Disasterpro.net is ready to help you create a disaster plan so that you'll be ready to act if and when flood or fire strikes your property. It is important to prepare proactively when considering your disaster plan. A thorough risk analysis should be conducted before disaster strikes. Risk analyses include conducting an inventory of assets located on the property, analyzing the risk of hazards, safe storage of records and other important information, and a review of insurance coverage. By taking care of these items ahead of time, you'll be less stressed and more capable of dealing with recovery details in the event of an emergency. It also helps to have a committee in place to handle disaster recovery. The people making up this committee should discuss in detail each step that will be taken in the recovery process and should take the responsibility of choosing a restoration service. There are several benefits of choosing a restoration service ahead of time. First, it will expedite the recovery process. Having an agreement with a restoration agency already in place allows restoration to begin immediately rather than allowing damage to become worse while you scramble to find the right company. Second, you'll be able to compare companies and choose the one whose price and services best meet your needs. You won't need to rely on the provider recommended by your insurance company since these providers can often be pricey. Third, you can establish a service agreement ahead of time which will state what services will be rendered and at what cost. This will protect you from hidden fees or incomplete service. The professionals at Disasterpro.net are ready to assist you as you build a disaster relief plan. They can talk you through each step of the process and provide information and support to help you make the best decisions for your business. Disasterpro.net will help you know what steps should be taken in the event of fire or water damage and how you should proceed when disaster strikes your business. They'll also help you evaluate your disaster plan and can make recommendations about steps you should consider taking. Disasters always occur at the most unexpected and least convenient times. Don't allow yourself to be caught unprepared and forced to scramble for disaster relief services. By taking the time to prepare your disaster plan and choose your restoration service, you'll save yourself and your business time and money as well as giving yourself the security of knowing you've done all you can to protect your assets.

Now-a-days, people are living contented and satisfied life, thanks to the advanced technology that has made living easy. But these luxuries will never stay forever, these are impermanent. Due to the ill-effects associated with developing technology, people cant live a peaceful life forever. There is a significant rise in environmental pollution levels in past two decades. Air and water pollution has caused serious environmental and health hazards. Air pollution is because of the emission of injurious and deadly gases in the atmosphere from growing number of vehicles and manufacturing units, whereas, water pollution is because of loads of industrial wastes being dumped into the sea water. As a result of which not only the human life is seriously affected, but also the plant and animal life is completely disturbed. Moreover, the bad climatic conditions are because of global warming which is caused due to increasing levels of atmospheric pollution. All these factors will turn our green earth to ashes. Its time to think sincerely about its serious affects in future and save our 'Mother Earth'. You might have often heard about 'Recycling' and might have wondered what it is exactly. Recycling is a way to control environmental pollution and make earth a greener planet. Recycling is an amazing method to make our earth greener by converting the useless and waste material into better and useful things. Here are a few benefits of recycling which in turn has a high impact on nature. - Helps to preserve natural and limited resources: Recycling aids in processing old and waste materials, therefore saves important raw materials which can be used later on in future. - Saves enery to huge extent: When raw materials are converted to importantproducts, a lot of energy is needed for its conversion. But recycling helps to save energy as the old products are just reprocessed to newer ones, thereby consuming lesser energy . - Controlling air and water pollution: Recycling aids in lowering of waste products by putting in effectual techniques to dispose waste products. This shows that the conventional methods of disposing wastes considerably reduce environmental pollution. - Recycling also helps to manage green house gas emissions. Hence, the atmosphere is cleaner and greener as recycling helps to reduce the emissions of harmful and poisonous gases. - Helps to save space: The area used for waste disposal landfill sites are dumped with waste products and these get filled up instantly. With effective recycling technique, a lot of space can be used for more constructive purposes. - Earth can be saved from Global warming: As we know the truth that huge areas of land is been cleared for factories and housing. Thus, this depletes the oxygen level and increases global warming. But recycling has helped to save the atmosphere and control global warming to a great extent. Thus, it is our duty to increase the awareness and positive impact of recycling which will surely help to save our earth and make earth greener. If every person uses effective methods to recycle waste it will surely help to improve our ecology. Live healthier and happier in greener earth by recycling .

Mitigation is vital in order to limit the effects of water damage. After all, the longer water is allowed to remain in a building, the greater the damage will be. Lack of mitigation services to flooded homes and other buildings can lead to secondary damages to the structure and contents from elevated humidity conditions, as well as potential microbial growth issues. If you're working in the insurance field and need to deal with a home or business that's been damaged by flooding, the most important thing you can do is to get emergency services underway immediately. In other words, begin the mitigation process in order prevent the need for remediation. Rapid response limits the overall effects of water damage and mitigation reduces overall claim cost. It doesn't take long for water to cause serious damage, and that damage gets worse the longer excess water is present. That's why it's important to call a quality cleanup company to deal with the problem right away. Professionals will be on site and provide an immediate assessment and begin mitigation services. Services you should look for include extraction of water, removal of saturated building materials, application of EPA registered anti-microbial products, as well as set up of high velocity air movers and dehumidification equipment. Both air movement and dehumidification are essential components required to stabilize the building environment and enable structural drying. Rapid response not only limits Property loss, but it can also reduce the impact to a homeowner's lifestyle or the amount of interruption to a business. In other words, the family can get back their regular dinner table and the business owner can be back in business that much sooner. DisasterPro.net is a great place to go if you're dealing with disaster cleanup. They are a professional, IICRC certified company, that utilizes all the necessary steps to stabilize and dry your structure. If upon inspection, mold issues are discovered, they are also a certified and recognized company that can provide mold remediation services. Of course, flood damage isn't the only field they work in, either. If you're dealing with a client whose property has suffered fire and smoke damage, or other disasters, they can help. As a Emergency Service Disaster Restoration company, DisasterPro.net is certified and recognized as industry leaders in providing smoke, odor, fire, and trauma clean-up services. They'll be there fast to keep the situation from getting worse and to save you and the client money. That's why insurance professionals recommend http://www.DisasterPro.net, and why you should check them out.

How Environmental Accounting Can Benefit Your Business

It is no great secret that businesses are created to deliver products and services in order to earn a profit. However it is important that companies think about their balance sheet in terms of whether they are in the red or the black and also the "green", too. With the growing green consumer awareness, companies are now expected to align their business strategies with environmental schemes. Environmentally conscious businesses have already discovering that they are able to initiate strategies to help them reduce their carbon footprint, minimise their environmental impact, make the best use of natural or local resources, become more energy efficient, reduce costs, and display social responsibility - all at the same time. More and more companies want to know how they can be part of a growing movement of doing green business and benefiting from the change. The first step is to consider green accounting into their business model. What is Environmental Accounting? The term, Environmental accounting, is a way of describing changes to your business practices that would be more environmentally friendly. This could be improving environmental performance, controlling costs, investing in technologies that require less energy or produce fewer emissions. Doing greener business is not about increased costs and can attract a new customer base that would have never considered you before. Environmental Management Accounting According to the EPA, environmental management accounting is "the identification, prioritisation, quantification or qualification, and incorporation of environmental costs into business decisions." Environmental Management Accounting uses "data about environmental costs and performance for business decisions. It collects cost, production, inventory, and waste cost and performance for business decisions. It collects cost, production, inventory, and waste cost and performance data in the accounting system to plan, evaluate, and control." Environmental management accounting therefore represents a combined approach which provides the switch from conventional accounting to consider things such as increase material efficiency, reduction in environmental impact and risk, and reduction in costs of waste. Implementing Environmental Accounting When making the move to implement environmental accounting there is a lot to consider and for big businesses it makes sense to consult specialist help. You need to consider the working site, research and development, and how staff will be informed and even trained. In the past, green initiatives were hampered by lack of understanding by management, who would normally consider them to be costly and a waste of time. Environmental accounting can help management recognise that the tax benefits, rebates and lower costs of being environmentally friendly add up to a real savings for being greener in business.

Between the Lines The Lyrics and the Music in Popular Literature

What could be a more perfect pair than music and literature? Both of them are major art forms, and both have remained in the consciousness of people because of its general appeal and function. Music and literature often share the same elements, characteristics, and techniques. For instance, several elements and techniques used in poetry can be found in song lyrics.

The shared characteristics often become the reason why many find poetry and songs (and, consequently, song lyrics) interchangeable. But beyond these elements, music is often connected to literature because it can be found as integral parts of narratives and expositions in literature.

There are times when songs and their lyrics become part of the narrative of a book. This pertains to actual songs and actual lyrics, not made-up songs or lyrics created for the sake of the narrative. Songs and lyrics inspire authors, or so they say, hence the integration of music in a story. It is sometimes used as a framing device, a means to move the story forward.

Authors who do this are self-proclaimed music lovers—they incorporate the songs and the lyrics they love into the story they are weaving. This strategy, if you can call it that, can often be found in Young Adult literature (or books intentionally written for people ages 13 to 18, although their market often reaches far beyond this age bracket).

Popular novels that incorporate music and lyrics into the story include David Levithan and Rachel Cohn's Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Naomi and Ely's No-Kiss List. Both novels are classified as Young Adult literature, although their appeal is universal.

In fact, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist has been adapted into a movie in 2008, while the film version of Naomi and Ely's No-Kiss List is planned to be released in 2009. In Naomi and Ely's, one of the narrators gave one of the titular characters a “mixtape” (or, a music CD that contains various songs the character picked himself).

In one of the characters, this narrator enumerated the songs included in the CD, quoted some of the lyrics of the songs included in the song. These songs and their corresponding lyrics fall into the greater scheme of the narrative. For instance, the character cited The Ramones “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” song, with lyrics that are quite self-explanatory: “Hey, little girl

I wanna be your boyfriend / Sweet little girl / I wanna be your boyfriend / Do you love me babe? / What do you say? / Do you love me babe? / What can I say? / Because I wanna be your boyfriend.” Nothing can be more obvious than that, but its usage makes the narrative deeper, since it does note state the fact directly.

Others are less direct. For instance, Haruki Murakami, a popular Japanese author, often alludes to songs and lyrics in his stories. While they do not have any significant in the story at first glance, anyone who would bother to look them up—music and lyrics in tow—would realize how everything fits into the narrative. An example of this can be found in his short story, “Family Affairs.”

These are merely examples on how songs, music, and lyrics can be used in literature, a glaring proof that the appeal of music is universal.

An allergy is a disorder of the immune system and is caused by reactions occurring from environmental substances known as allergens. Examples of allergic reactions include asthma, food allergies, eczema, and reactions to stings from wasps and bees. Treatments for allergies include the use of avoiding the allergen, anti-histamines, and steroids.

Avoiding the allergen can be an effective way of reducing the incident of the allergy occurring. For example, eczema, a painful skin condition, can be made worse when the person has come into contact with chemical cleaners used in the house. Therefore the use of non-chemical cleaners/environmentally friendly products can help to prevent a flare-up of the condition. You can also visit at www.arts-crafts-for-all.com

What are environmentally friendly products? Environmentally friendly products are made from natural ingredients that have very few side effects. The advantages of environmentally products leans not only towards us but towards nature as well, which means the products are good for humans to use, and the products break down in the environment when they have been discarded. Many companies manufacture environmentally friendly products across the world, and production is increasing as more consumers are realising the benefits to their health and the environment when they use the products. But some people are put off using such products because of the cost, and for people on a tight budget it is a major concern. However, there is a cheap and cheerful way to use environmentally cleaning products …and they are normally found in the pantry/larder:

Vinegar – white distilled vinegar can be used concentrated for tough jobs or diluted with distilled water for easier jobs. It is brilliant for removing lime scale on taps, shower screens, cleaning windows, as is a general disinfectant, and general cleaner. The ‘fish ‘n' chip' smell does dissipate and leaves the air smelling fresh and clean. Do not use vinegar on marble or some stone products.

Tomato ketchup – for cleaning brass, rubs on and then rubs off to a shine.

Lemon juice and bicarbonate soda – once the ingredients have been added together and made into a paste, it is great for cleaning dirty areas such as ovens…but some elbow grease is needed as well!

Bicarbonate soda – sprinkle on to carpets before vacuuming to freshen them up. Put some into a container and put at the back of the fridge to keep out odors. Lemon juice and olive oil – one cup of lemon oil, half a cup of olive oil and shake together well. This makes a lovely solution for cleaning wooden furniture. For more details you can visit at www.america-gardener.com. The cleaning products suggested above are nothing new as women have used them in the home generations ago. Unfortunately somewhere along the line recent generations have forgotten about the ‘back-to-basics' cleaning products when they fell for the clever marketing of cleaners that used a variety of chemicals. Other environmentally friendly products that manufactures are making are: Hand made paper – not only reduces pollution by 70% but also helps in saving trees as the process uses non-wood raw materials to a large extent

Use of ECO wheels, also known as electric vehicles, which can help in reducing air pollution

Eco friendly furniture uses raw-wood and recycled products, so is a good alternative to wooden furniture

Equipment using solar energy provides heat without causing air and sound pollution

Eco friendly paints have fewer chemicals in them and there is very little odour

Eco shoes are made up of recycled rubber and plastics

Conclusion

Environmentally friendly products are good for humans and nature. Some environmentally friendly products are more costly than ‘traditional' types of products but savings can be made if we go ‘back-to-basics.'

Even in Bad Times the Oil Companies are Making Insane Amounts of Money!

If you follow the financial news and I am guessing more and more people are these days you might have noticed something quite disturbing this morning.

Three major oil companies have posted their third quarter results and the numbers are staggering. First off Exxon mobile the world's largest company posted profits of 14.8 Billion dollars. That's 14.8 Billion with a B and this is profit not gross revenue and this is 1 quarter of a calendar year. That's 14 thousand 800 millions, I always find it amazing when you break any large number down like this.

The next company worth mentioning was Royal Dutch Shell their profits increased by 71% from the previous year . 71% and their profits for the third quarter was a modest 10.9 Billion, well maybe not modest!

Here is what really disgusts me, we live in a world where the oil companies are making most of the money and the largest oil rich nations knowingly fund terrorist activities. When you think about 9/11 and let's be honest it was Al Qaeda that was behind the attacks, where did they get the money from? Most reports all go back to Saudi Arabia.

In order to run a proper terrorist organization you need lots of money. What bothers me is the Western world for the most part is funding these organizations by purchasing oil from Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq.

Whether you believe in Global Warming or not most of us are at very least thinking about changing our bad habits when it comes to the environment. Car companies are now being forced to offer alternative fuel options and hybrid vehicles. Let's face it most of the reasons that we are choosing to recycle, compost, drive less and just in general take less from this planet is because we are legitimately concerned about what this blue ball is going to look like in 20-60 years. For most of us we'll still be here when things get ugly.

In theory it's somewhat selfish and there is nothing wrong with that. Here is the major problem in my eyes, it's going to take some time before we can really make an impact on our oil usage. I have to admit it appears to be happening faster that I would have expected. The question is why are we buying our oil from countries that fund insane people that want us dead?

Say what you want about the Canadian Tar Sands and the amount of extra pollution it costs, last time I checked Canadians aren't flying planes into tall buildings.

Here is what I think we should do, continue spending a huge amount of effort reducing our dependency on oil through known alternatives. As for places like the Tar Sands for the time being spend a lot of money on research as there are better ways to get the sand separated from the oil. A little extra pollution for a short period of time would be better than having a nuclear bomb kill us all because some dude in Afghanistan thinks we are the Anti Christ.

Are Waste Water Plants Doing A Good-Enough Job?

Do you understand what those big tanks of smelly water are there for? When I was younger, I didn't even think about them and had no desire to want to know. Today I know what they are used for, but still don't know the simplest things about their jobs or how they are ran. I just thought that these big tanks of this smelly water were there to make some of us people just sick.

These tanks are always full, or so it looks, because whenever you will drive past one of them, it sometimes looks like this would overflow if it rained too much. No matter how many times you went past them, they always looked the same. I do know now that this water is cleaned many times to make sure that there are no germs or anything else in this water and that it is then pumped into holding tanks, which in reality are the big water towers that you will see with the name of the town on the outside of this tower.

Sometimes I think that these smelly holding tanks should be under cover so that people won't have to see them or maybe smell them. People can usually smell it when the wind is blowing in the right direction. Depending on the holding tank, some smell very bad. Some might even think that these smell worse than a field of skunks.

Do you think that these holding tanks are doing a good enough job, or can there be some improvements done to the tanks themselves, the way they are manned, or the places that they are built? Some of them have been built at the outskirts of town, but then they might have a highway built right next to them. It seems that no matter how nice the town might look, it will still get a lower rating as for anyone wanting to live there because of these waste water tanks being in everyone's view.

Here is one example of covering something of waste: back in my hometown, they have a really big beef and pork plant that kills these animals. What they do with the leftover by-products that can't be used is take it to the other end of town where they are put into tanks that were built underground to be burned. All that is seen by a person's eyes is a pipe that sticks out of the ground, sending a fire into the sky. It still smells, but you don't see what is being burned.
