Life In The Deep South
As I get older it dawns on me more and more how blessed I am to have been born in the south and been able to live my life in the south. Enough of my ravings about my locale, I bet you would like to hear a little bit about what makes living in the deep south such a grand thing.
Well in my best southern drawl, I'll be honest with you, I don't know if I can convey it with words but I'll give it a whirl. Lets start with the mornings, those cool, fresh, sometimes misty mornings. Those mornings where everything seems to be brand new, its like God just got through painting us a new masterpiece for us to enjoy and the paint is still wet on it.The freshness of the southern mornings are brimming with hope, as we feel that we have a fresh start to our lives each morning, and we do. Them southern mornings that are really something else, they make you glad to be alive and glad to be alive in the deep south.
Well you can't mention those southern mornings without talking about those southern evenings. It is one of my favorite times of the day and we have some awesome evenings down here. Just watching the sun kiss the mountains as the sky looking on blushes, turning a pinkish red tint takes your breath away. Also during the spring and summer nightly firework shows by the lightning bugs as well as concerts by the katydids make southern evenings rock. Southern mornings, southern evenings, as great as they are to me is not the main reason the south is such a great place to be.
What makes the south so grand is, you guessed it, the people. People who say yes sir and yes mam, people who bow their heads and say grace at the dinner table, folks who look after their neighbor and still have time to sit a spell and speak with him. Yea, down here things like God, love, honor, family and country still matter to most of the folks and that is what makes the south such a great place to be.
I guess this is a kind of biased article, and I do kinda play favorites with the south, and maybe it is all I have ever known, but like my daughter says "who cares". But don't knock it till you come on down here and give it a whirl yourself.
