Be Aware Of Video Surveillance

Most people are aware that they are under video surveillance when they enter a casino resort but never suspect that their activities would be monitored when they are entering and leaving a bathroom. Some people have become so leery of being recorded in a bathroom stall that they choose to avoid them at all costs, wherever they are. Law enforcement officers do not tolerate this type of video surveillance.

Video surveillance is often used by private investigators to record the activities of people without them realizing it. These graphic images on video tape can be used against a parent in a child custody case, or prove to a woman that her husband has been cheating on her. A husband can also order video surveillance on his better half and the couple can then battle it out in the courtroom to see what evidence was garnered from the video surveillance.

Many business owners have installed video cameras at many places around their place of business. With the high prices on gasoline these days, there are some people who are brave enough to drive away from the gas pumps without paying for the gas they pumped into their vehicles. The clarity of the images on the video tape are clear enough to tell the business owner the make, model, year and tag number of the vehicle and provide a good facial view of the thief.

Banks and other lending institutions have been using video surveillance for years to protect their bank lobbies and vaults. The banking industry has also decided to use video cameras to keep a record of the people that use automatic teller machines. These videos are useful when identify theft has occurred and unauthorized transactions have taken place at an ATM. Most banks will hold the customer responsible though if the ATM code was divulged to the person who used the card even if a video record exists of the supposed fraud.

It has become necessary to install video surveillance cameras on the maternity wards in hospitals. These video camera serve as a deterrent agent for people who think they can wander into a hospital and remove a sleeping baby from a bassinet. The video images that are gotten from video tapes are often passed on to police and are used in amber alert messages and missing children alerts that are placed on television and on milk carton campaigns.
