How to host your own lingerie party

There are many reasons for having a lingerie party. Firstly, it is a convenient excuse to spend

a self-indulgent amount of time deciding on what style, type, and colour of lingerie to add to

your collection – but without having to trawl the shops on a busy drizzling Saturday evening

(and ending up with something you only half wanted). Additionally, a lingerie party can be a

good excuse to have a laugh, an opportunity to catch up with the girls, and it can be a

comfortable and light-hearted way to making that all-important lingerie-related decision. So

how do you host your own lingerie party?



After you've decided which shop or company to host your party through, and you've

established yourself a lingerie consultant, it's time to start the fun stuff and get planning. A

good place to start is to decide on who you are going to invite. The first thing to remember is

to be sure that yourself, and those you invite, are comfortable. So do you want to invite your

close friends? Do you want to include the girls from work? How about the boyfriends?

Although lingerie parties have traditionally been women only, more recently men have been

known to be included too, but just remember to be considerate of how comfortable you and

your guests feel.



The next step is to plan the food, after all, this lingerie choosing is hungry work. But

remember, this is not a dinner party, so you don't need to plan courses and courses of

decadent nosh. I suggest finger food, a buffet, or tapas, something that is quite informal and

can stimulate mingling and chatting – and that can be enjoyed alongside a few glasses of

wine, or if you're feeling extra convivial – cocktails!



After the standard party ingredients such as food, drinks, and a bit of dancing, lingerie parties usually involve games, and this is the next thing to plan. It's good to plan a few and of course these can be diverse in terms of taste, can be centred around the guest of honour (if it's a hen night for example), and can even take place over the course of the night from when the guests arrive.



A good starter is the classic game: Pass the Teddy – the guests are told that wrapped in a

parcel is some sexy lingerie that must be modelled by the one who tears open the final

wrapper. The game begins, every time the music stops another wrapper is torn, of course,

when the winner sees a bit of the “prize” uncovered they must then leave the room, only to

return modelling the sexy number. But, lo and behold…the prize is in fact a teddy-bear!

With careful planning, some good friends, food, and wine, a lingerie party can be a memorable

night, if just for an excuse to have some fun, or even to celebrate a special occasion.
