There are some engine calibration processes utilized that are supposed to boost fuel economy. But most of these processes go upwards of $10,000. Semi trucks and race cars can however take a good advantage of this.

Using accessories such as driver modifiers that periodically switch off the air conditioning or heating can be a good option. Such devices will also notify you of necessary gear change that you might be ignoring in order to make the engine work less.

This really does paint a grim picture where it seems almost impossible to get a device that does not burn your wallet and at the same time gives some results. Getting carried away by promotion materials is not a good idea either. Unless you have really good results to support a particular magnetic device or a driver accessory, probably it is a good idea to buy something else than spending fifty dollars on something that increases fuel economy only by 1/10th of a gallon.

Professional organizations that perform a lot of testing on these devices are a good place to begin your search. You may look for information in EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) website and decide on the products that gave reliable test results and are still available in the market. Getting something with a proven track record is better than getting something that is new, has all scientific mumbo jumbo but does not work well.
